Solo: A Star Wars Story

7/10

Good cast, so-so storyline that could have used a much stronger plot.

Hunter Gatherer (2016)
Kyôfu kikei ningen: Edogawa Rampo zenshû / Horrors of Malformed Men (1969)

TIMECOP (1994)
Quality = 2/10
Joy = 8/10

JCVD movies tend to generally entertain me, and I don't mind that they are majorly bad, the most I care about is them being entertaining. This man.. is one of my favorites when it comes to direct to video and cheesy action flicks, I owe that to his delightfully cheesy Street Fighter movie.

This is a silly movie that does not have any coherent internal logic within itself, it is a weirder time travel movie than the likes of the Terminator, Back to the Future, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and I'm talking about when it comes to time travel rules and mechanics.

I haven't seen Timecop in goodness knows how long but I do remember Ron Silver made a good baddie!

Police Academy 3. I watched 1-3 because I was ill at the weekend and needed cheering up. It worked and I'm not sorry.

Slice

It was just okay. It's definitely inspired by a lot of B movies from the 80s mainly horror comedies. There's some good direction and there's a lot of style. My problem is the script isn't giving the characters much to do. The movie is under 90 minutes and yet it feels pretty long. It's interesting they gave Chance the Rapper top billing when it's really Zazie Beetz's movie. Overall, it's a horror comedy that could have been much better.

Day 1 - Slice

Friday The 13th Part 3
Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter
Friday The 13th Part V: A New Chapter
Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

I was home with a bad back yesterday, got to watch all this and draw several pictures. Almost made up for the pain.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (1989)

Just out of hospital (again !) :argh: and fancied a good ol' adventure yarn. Still holds up.

Hell Fest

It's a schlocky B movie that's not doing anything new, but you do have fun watching it. The story is very straight forward, almost too straight forward, but the highlight of the movie is the horror theme park. It's really well shot, well lit and it's got style that you wish more horror movies would follow. I was expecting the main leads to be annoying, but for the most part they were goofy in a charming way. This surprisingly has a low kill count which was interesting. This almost feels like they ran out of money to shoot their final act so they found the quickest way to end the movie. Overall, it's worth checking out if you're into horror slashers.
