I'm probably the only one that doesn't hate Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It is the weakest in the franchise but I don't think it's complete **** and terrible as people make it out to be. I have no problem rewatching it during my own marathon

I don't hate it either. It just isn't near the level of the other three (and yes, I adore Temple of Doom). My biggest problem is that it just seems kind of tired to me. Like the beats are there, but it seems like everything is moving at half-speed or going through the motions. I did think it started well with the Area 51 stuff and the Nuke. Yeah, it was silly, but Indy always has been. Especially in everything after Raiders. I mean the second movie had them jumping out of an airplane in an inflatable raft and sliding down Mount Everest (or some similarly high Himalayan mountain). The villains are the weakest in the series and the final act wasn't all that exciting. Also, I didn't like the CGI. The effects could sometimes be terrible in the originals too, but they were always a homage to old serials and that went with the territory. It isn't the quality so much as the CGI seems too slick and glossy and doesn't fit what the series is about. It really sticks out.

Camera work and editing are obnoxious during fight scenes, everything else is masterfully done. How did they manage to make a movie as a serious and this and make it funny in all the right ways without making it as comedic as Indiana Jones, Lethal Weapon, MCU, or so many other glorious action movies?
