I don't get the hate, but I do wonder why they decided to damage the Millennium Falcon too much in this one.

How are these? Been wanting to catch more Randolph Scott films after watching Shoot-Out at Medicine Bend.
They're all decent westerns. They each have good points and bad points. He's the standard strong jawed principled man of action. It's the secondary characters that help elevate these above "B" movie rating. THUNDER OVER THE PLAINS is helped by Lex Barker playing against type as a jerk....and RIDING SHOTGUN has an interesting performance by Vic Perrin. Perrin was one of the top voice over actors at the time (he is probably best remembered as "the control voice" on THE OUTER LIMITS) and in this he is a featured player who doesn't speak a word. He wanders throughout scenes appearing in deep thought as he slowly makes a noose out of a length of rope. Scott's great westerns started just a couple of years after these.

Thanks for the rundown. I'll be on the lookout for these and other films.

Last Moment of Clarity

I will say first, the posters for this are misleading and in fact the main character is actually Zach Avery. Either way, for a standard mystery thriller, it was pretty good. The pacing early on is just right for a mystery like this where you are putting the clues together. The directing is solid and it doesn't feel like they were given a cheap budget. It's the solid performances from Zach Avery, Samara Weaving, and Carly Chaikin that keeps this from being a below average thriller. As for plot, I thought 2/3's of it was great, but once everything got revealed with the mob and Samara Weaving's character, it becomes soap opera-ey... but almost on purpose. Overall, It's worth checking out if you're a fan of Samara Weaving who has yet to deliver a bad performance.
3.5/5
