WINTER KILL ( 1974)



Winter Kill is an interesting thriller in terms of where it sits in Andy Griffith's tv career .
Airing no so long after the end of the Andy Griffith show , yet a decade before the original Matlock series , Griffith plays a character pretty similar to Andy Taylor, expect he's on the hunt of a masked killer who seems to be targeting everyone connected to a deceased young woman.

The film is actually pretty good at throwing suspicion to everyone in the small town , including a womanizing Ski instructor played by Nick Nolte , before he became a movie star.

I don't want to give too much away beyond that , but I'll say it's a pretty good thriller , and if you're looking for a film in which Andy Griffith plays the heavy, I would recommend the 1974 telefilm, Savages.

Airing on April 15th, 1974 in the top ten was a hit song which would get new life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,







A TATTERED WEB ( 1971)



Tattered Web is the third Lloyd Bridges, 1970s, telefilm i've Watched over the past few months, and once again , he excels at playing a man on the edge , wracked with guilt and barely keeping it together.

This time around , Bridges plays a detective , whose son in law is having an affair , for which Bridges will do anything to put an end to.

The result is the accidental killing of the other woman , and Bridges frantic effort to cover up his role in the crime and to protect his daughter from the sins of his son in law .

The film whoever goes depper than the premise and gets into the psyche of our lead character , and what may motivation him to takes things to such an extreme.

Sallie Shockley and Frank Converse also put in great performances as Bridges's daughter and son in law, respectively.

While Anne Helm makes a brief, but impressionable appearance as the other woman , who leaves you wanting to know more about her before she's killed off.


Airing September 24th, 1971, in the top ten was a signature song by John Denver.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, interesting, often engaging particularly some of the visuals and some of the acting but also a little too often feeling a little too flat/standard/obligatory.

Particularly Peter's and Lucy's characters often felt a little too standard and I wish Lucy had been/seemed slightly older (probably more like she was in the second film from start) but I often liked Edmund and Susan quite a bit and Peter was at least understandable. Neeson was great, Swinton good but I think not that good. And like a lot of movie adaptations it felt slightly too long but with some key scenes a little rushed but here I can't easily think of much that should have been cut.
