Batman-The_Killing_Joke_%28film%29.jpg

Just doesn't carry the same weight as quite a few other DC animated projects. I love Batgirl but everything added in here with her falls flat and just drags on needlessly in addition to coming across as largely unnecessary.

A shame this one didn't pack quite the punch I wanted it to since, like for many, many others, this serves as one of my favorite comic book stories of all time.

TKJ is my all-time #2 comic. I thought they did a good job with this on the whole, although I agree about all the extra Batgirl stuff (and like you, I love her as a character). Whenever I rewatch this I just skip forward to where she's coming home from her run.

The second half that focuses on the actual comic book story is fun stuff, and it's awesome hearing Conroy & Hamill utter all of the iconic dialogue from the book.

I probably just should've followed your strategy and skipped all of the Barbara stuff. I know why they did it, but they still shouldn't have. If they wanted to stretch the run time they could've just played on Batman seeming off-kilter due to worrying about how he & Joker's feud will end. Essentially making Bruce take on a more Dr. Loomis' esque role where it almost seems like he's as unhinged as the villain he's chasing.

Would've been so much better than what we got lol

Master and Commander: Far Side of the World (2003) - d. Peter Weir

They just don't make 'em like this anymore. The definition of epic. Not much I can add to the conversation on this one :funny: 5/5

A Simple Favor (2018) - d. Paul Feig
IllPeriodicKakarikis-max-1mb.gif

Paul Feig's delightfully, unashamedly trashy mommy-vlogger erotic thriller. Anna Kendrick is a blast and Blake Lively makes an entry into the ranks of the hottest people have ever looked on film w/ridiculously killer outfits throughout. Henry Golding is kinda just there, but that's also kinda the point. It's a blast, even when the third act gets a little too messy for its own good and Feig struggles to keep pace at selling the absurdity of it all. It needed more Andrew Rannells, though. I waffled between 3.5 and 4, but the ending isn't so rough as to offset what came before. Best cameo goes to the Aviation Gin product placement. 4/5
