I love Batman Returns. The Dark Knight is my favourite Batman film of all, but Batman Returns comes a very close second

Nice! Batman Returns is definitely my favorite Batman movie (Batman '89 would be second), but TDK is good too.

So far not very impressed at nearly an hour in. The CG effects are hit and miss, particularly with the gore and some of the stupid character choices made to push the plot forward are contrived.

At some point, I guess have to see this (what if Superboy went evil with his powers, such an awesome Superman Elseworlds idea), but the reviews has been quite underwhelming. And you kinda confirm it here.

Seeing these pics with Connery in a "less flattering outfit" during many years, I thought I needed to watch this (cult?) sci-fi flick. It's written and directed by John Boorman, and co-starring Charlotte Rampling. Considering heavy names like that, it can't be all bad, can it..?

The intro features a floating head (who claims himself as Zardoz), with a mustache and beard made by a point markers pen. OK, here we go..

"The gun is good!"

"The penis is evil!"

Actually, the concept behind this made it quite interesting and entertaining (in a non-ironic way), Some philosophic ideas as well. Of course there's a fair share of laughable parts, but over all I had a good time with this, although it dragged out in the third act IMHO. Bonus points for everyone having British accents. Another bonus point is the logo on the poster that reminded me of a gazillion of lesser metal bands in early 80s that never made it.

Tbh, I truly miss 70s sci-fi films like this, 'cause they dared to go completely bonkers with their concepts. Sometimes they were ridiculous but/and/or highly entertaining, sometimes only bad. I think stuff like Planet of The Apes might had an impact on film-making like that. Today's sci-fi films (even the cheap DTV ones) feels very safe compared to 40+ years ago.

Clint Eastwood stars and directs. It's pretty much what you expect. Solid and straight forward. Would have liked to seen the story and intensity ratcheted up toward the end.

It was underwhelming. The best parts of the movie occur near the end, as he starts to go full villian. As I said in the main thread on it they should have skipped the origin story. We already know the origin story, only this time it's "evil."
