If I had to pick one book, I would chose Mein Kampf by Adolph Hitler. When you consider how many people died as a result of Hitler actions, then its an easy choice. I am sure some of you will have other books, and I would love to hear your choices.

The Bible. Religion has killed more people than war and disease combined!

Thank you, I knew someone would say The Bible. I did not write that because it wasn't written to be evil. The fact that people have used it for evil is not important to this thread.

How are we talking evil?

There's books that are bound in human skin. None of those can be very happy books.

If it were a real, actual book, then I would agree that it the most evil book. However, we all know H.P. Lovercraft made it up. He kept the names of the real book a secret...

No one is 100 percent certain of the number of people who died in World War 2 but it experts believe the figure is around the 50-70 million people killed in as a result of World War 2. It can vary as to were you look, as for example Wikipedia has a great article on how many people died in world war 2 World War2 which leans towards the scary figure of 72 million people.

No one has died because of the Bible, what people have died for is Adamic sin brought upon us all with our first human parents being unfaithful to God, which is why we await the coming ransom sacrifice of Jesus to be fully applied. Also Satan has been thrown to the Earth and is responsible for the death and problems we see currently - see Rev 12:9 &1 Pet 5:8. Did you know that the Bible says it is for only our own good - 2 Tim 3:16? Also did you know that the Bible states that nothing bad can be attributed to God - James 1:13? Be assured that God sees all the wicked on the Earth today and can resurrect anyone that has been unjustly killed or has died as a result of there zeal for his word. The Bible states that after God has removed the wickedness from the Earth Psalms 37:9 that the meek ones will possess the Earth and find delight in the abundance of peace - Psalms 37:11

Certainly a contender. I would say The Protocols of the Elder of Zion were certainly also up there in intent of malice. They're a total forgery.

I would also say that Martin Luther's On the Jews and Their Lies should get an honorable mention. I have to wonder how much he inspired the Nazis.

Deuteronomy tells us to stone adulterous women to death. Women have been stoned to death for that reason. It also says that those worship other gods should be stoned to death. People have been stoned to death for that reason. Surely then the Bible has killed someone? I was going to cite Leviticus, but that's becoming a bit of a cliché.

Yes, its clear that Martin Luther's hatred of Jews would have fueled Hitler's hatred of the Jews centuries later.

I would argue that it's impossible to tell how many people have died directly as a result of the Bible. Using that argument you would also have to include the Koran.

Taken as a book of lessons and allegories it's not a bad book. Taken as something to force people to live by while cherry picking what you want to follow is what leads to trouble.

You really have to specify if you mean evil as in books that influenced people to do things, books that were made because of suffering (like the human skin books) or books that changed things so much that as a people we were changed.

As for Mein Kampf, I heard it was actually really boring and at best mildly influencing if you are easily mentally disturbed. Other than that, not much about it.

It is the inspired word of God, not a Grimm Brothers fairy tales collection.

Those divine commands weren't intended as suggestions.

If you don't cherry pick from religion then you're doing it wrong.

Anyway, on topic, there aren't any evil books.

That would make the intent evil. Someone can also interpret a book's content in a way that could be considered evil. However, books are objects. Objects have no inherent morality.

I think you're being a bit too literal minded.
