What would Hollywood be without popular books to adapt these days?

I have to say that without the books right now, we could be looking at another Hope Floats Movie. Do you want that? well do you?

shouldn't the real question be:
would the book industry survive without Hollywood?

Most authors these days write a book hoping it will turn into a movie or tv franchise

There have been books I have read because I saw the movie (Jurassic Park, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Fight Club), but I read plenty of books that have not been made into movies or have been but I havnt seen them yet.

I actually enjoy reading and I have a fairly big wish list (and no free time) including many which have never been made into movies

We all know J.K. Rowling started writing these books with the intention of having them become movies after Sorceror's Stone was released.
