So I just read the script for Cameron's Spider-Man, and I'm wondering what it would've looked like. I know Leonardo DiCaprio was in negotiations and Schwarzenegger was going to have a cameo as Doc Ock, but I want to know what you guys think it would like!

Here's some pretty cool fanmade art for Cameron's Spider-Man.

Wasn't Max Dillon supposed to be a rich guy who uses his powers to play the stock market?

Robert Downey Jr. expressed interest 15 years ago.

Also, there was a guy who actually storyboarded the entire script a couple years ago. Pretty cool.

WAIT! The storyboards aren't official??

I love that. Leo would've been an amazing Peter Parker.

Here's a smoothed out version:

I'm willing to bet that if James Cameron had made Spider-Man, Leo would've looked like this-

Nikki Cox, I believe.

That DiCaprio casting was definitely real, though. Leo was Cameron's choice for Peter.

He was considered for Raimi's Spider-Man too. I wonder how close he got to playing Spider-Man. I heard there were rumors of them talking about it on the set of Titanic.

I think Leo would have been a great Peter. He looks like the Ultimate Version

They weren't rumors. They were definitely talking about doing Spider-Man together at the time (circa 1997).

He would've been amazing. I think he'd have to change his look to look like Peter. IN the script, Peter has brown hair. He would've looked like this-

To be honest, I'm more curious about Doc Ock. Didn't he have acameo in James Cameron's script?

No. Electro and Sandman were the villains in Cameron's story.

There is a script with Doc Ock floating online, but Cameron had nothing to do with it (even though it bears his name along with a whole list of other writers).

Only the Electro/Sandman scriptment was written by Cameron. That would have been the basis for his film.

I think he was suppose to direct that script, but Cameron immediately wrote his own treatment. Do you know who was considered for Electro or Sandman and Mary-Jane?

Ah yes, the script wherein Ock was to be played by Schwarzenegger, called his arms "waldos", said "Okeedokee" a lot, featured a school dance scene where Peter shows up as Spidey and dances with Mary Jane on the ceiling, etc...

One of the guys that wrote it actually used to post here. Can't remember his name.

It would be James Cameron's first bad film

Wasn't Avatar his biggest failure? LOL
It would set a whole new standard for superhero movies in the 90's like Bryan Singer's X-Men.
....aaaaand RDJ wanted to play Spider-Man. Just picture it. I would've seeing Leo though.

Hahahahahaha

I didn't really like Avatar but that was probably his greatest success, it's the film that won more money right now and was also loved by critics, was also nominated for a lot of awards and Best Picture in the Oscars. It was the complete oposite of failure

I'm sure it wouldn't have been that bad... It got a lot of aspects of the character right, but it got a lot very wrong as well. Even reading the script, it feels very 90's.

It was success...
but it certainly wasn't a fan favorite. James Cameron used to be an official bad-ass until he did Titanic.:cmad: I wish he still had it in him, so we could've gotten him to do a Spider-Man reboot and a T3 or a T5.

But this is a whole other thread.

It actually looks bad right now but back in the 90's, it could've saved the superhero genre. The 90's weren't a really great year for superhero movies. I think James Cameron's Spider-Man would have been amazing with action, special effects, and a great cast. Leo as Spider-Man would've been great.
