What would you do to fix Batman & Robin?

^ We would've got a sobbing Bruce Wayne that spends a good deal of screen time without the mask but with the rest of the Batsuit on. Raimi would've retconned the story so the villian in course was somehow linked to the murder of Bruce's parents :P

Burton did that in B'89. :cwink:

Bruce Wayne dancing and finger-gunning girls.

Burton did that in B'89. :cwink:

But not after making you believe it had been Joe Chill.

Well, that means that after believing it was Joe Chill, then we would've believed it was Jack Napier, all of that to lead into a masterful wrap due to Raimi's villian revelation! If thats not an excercise in swift and unexpected storytelling shocks then I don't know what it is :awesome:

Well, the cheese-meter wouldn't change that much. :woot:

I agree that Spider-Man 3 (And a bit of Spider-Man 1) were cheesy, but Spider-Man 2 was an awesome movie. I think Raimi is a much better director than Schumacher.

Actually, at the time, I would've at least accepted Val Kilmer's return and if they had kept the same tone that Batman Forever had. Nix Batgirl altogether and focus on the Grayson/Wayne relationship. Have only one villain (Mr Freeze) and then the start of Pamela Isley's descent partially set on by Freeze's destruction of Gotham. :cwink: But then, hindsight is always 20/20 ain't it?

Nothing, probably. Batman & Robin is what it is, and without it we would not have Chris Nolan with the franchise right now. All you can do is just learn from the mistakes made and move on.

Absolutely. Raimi is not only Spiderman; his Darkman was better than most of current superhero movies I see now and his SM2 was very very good.

I agree... I enjoy Raimi's movies more... But Schumacher has made some great films... Falling Down, The Client... The Lost Boys!

Now there's a great way to look at it.

I have to give Schumacher some props for actually publicly apologizing for letting down the fans with Batman and Robin.

To be honest, I like Schumacher as a director more than I like Raimi, simply based on the fact that I like more Schumacher movies than Raimi's. But in hindsight I am not saying it was still a good decision on WB's part to go with Schumacher instead of Raimi for Batman Forever, and jokes aside I am curious as to what Raimi could've delievered on the Batman movie front.

Thats true. Hollywood types are known for their massive egos and for one of them to actually apologize in public for "a comic book movie" is decent of him.

Exactly. He is in general a good director. He was instructed by WB to make the movies much lighter after the dark Batman Returns pissed off the public.

I don't remember there being a "pissed off" public here... What was the story behind that?

You didn't hear of the Batman Returns backlash for being too violent and unsuitable for kids? It's why WB dropped Burton's vision, and instructed Schumacher to make the next movie considerably lighter and more child friendly.

I heard about it years later... about veering away from the "darkness" of the first two films... but I didn't know there was a public backlash of any kind. What a damn shame.

Yeah, I'd love to have seen Burton do a third one. We could have seen his version of the Scarecrow, too, because apparently he wanted to use him.

I dont, because he mentioned it once and it didnt sound like some big, official apology, just "if Forever fans were dissapointed with B&R, then Im sorry". Not only he implies that everyone mustve love Forever but it was just a short mention. Yet in so many interviews Ive read with him he constantly puts Batman down as "just a comic book "movie and often uses phrases like" its just Batman" and of course there are those pesky remarks toeards the Bat fans to get a life if they dont like his Bat movies

Plus he told us to go out more if we didn't like the nipples. :cmad:

I thought it was pretty witty when Robin pulled off his rubber lips...bravo...

Do you have any examples at hand where he dismisses the movies as being just Batman?
