What X-Men: The Last Stand got right...

well thats a big part of why i think they "cut it all off" so that they wouldnt have to have all kinds of hair blowing around, you dont notice as much when she had short hair.

*Beast
*Better action sequences (especially the opening one in the Danger Room)
That's all I got. Sorry.

Beast and the score is still really the only good things

What I liked:

-The Score... one of my fav scores for an action movie (I own about 110 film scores). John Powell did a great job. I love the Pheonix Theme.

-The basic plot: I think "the cure plot" was an excellent way to continue the trilogy. But the cure plot + Dark Pheonix = total mess. They should of stuck to one or the other. "Magneto unleashes Dark Pheonix to destroy humanity" or "Mutants faced with taking a cure". One or the other. Not both. X-Men 3 was two movies in one, cut down to a measily 90 or so minute film.

-Beast, Kitty, Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto - the new characters of Beast, Kitty, plus the best actors/characters of the previous X-films... Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto ... continued to shine here. Did the X-Men films focus WAY TOO MUCH on Wolverine? Abso-freaking-lutely!!! But I think the X-Men trilogy really belongs to Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart.

-Magneto as reoccuring villain - I have mentioned before in many many other threads that although the X-trilogy is far, far, far from perfect (repeat: FAR from perfect)... the one thing it nailed wonderfully that I think other superhero films/directors-of-those-films should take notice to is it developed its main villain over three films and included side-villains in each sequel w/Magneto. That is a GREAT formula. Although most comicbook heroes have a large list of villains to use in each film, I think getting an actor to sign to play the MAIN VILLAIN in all three films of a trilogy, and developing that character slowly, just like the heroes, is a great idea. Imagine if Doctor Octopus had been introduced and developed a bit in Spiderman 1, then used in 2... or if Harvey Dent had been Rachel's boss in Batman Begins, then used in The Dark Knight... more character development, more impact....more emotional investment in the characters... only the X-Men Trilogy had the foresight to see its villain, Magneto, as a major player and developing character in each film. I think the whole "each film in the trilogy gets a new villain" idea is old/tired.

-I did like the development of the "kid" X-Men. ie Iceman, Collosus, etc.

-How Magneto was defeated - I like how he was defeated with trickery. Wolverine, throughout all three films, tries to fight Magneto, to no avail. He can't even challenge Magneto being that his body is made of a metal.... so I thought it was great how Magneto was beaten by tricking him into thinking Wolverine was gonna take him on... and then Beast creeps up behind and injects him in the back with the cure.

Ok. :o

I'll venture out on a limb here and say that I thought that X3's Storm was probably the most accurate portrayal of the character that we've seen in the entire trilogy. She was a lot more fierce and determined, and certainly less "fragile" than Singer's version. We got to see a much fuller range of her powers and her motherly instincts were played up more. She and Logan made a good team, although it was a bittersweet thing considering the other half of it (Jean and Scott) were MIA for the whole freaking film.

Still hated the flying sequences, although the spinning concept was very nicely done and creative.

-As before, I thought Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, and Rebecca Romijn gave nearly flawless performances.

-Even though it and the Phoenix story weren't well-balanced the way they should have been, it was a perfect idea and time to bring in the cure plotline.

-The entire Beast character and portrayal.

-The casting of Ben Foster as Angel and Ellen Page as Kitty. (Unfortunately, both were totally wasted, but I digress.)

-John Powell's score: very powerful stuff.

-Those two pre-credits scenes.

-Storm's eulogy for Xavier was really moving.

-Iceman v. Pyro

-Not having each of the X-Men react the same way to the cure; within the context of this movie, yeah, I feel like Rogue would take it.

-"Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you can ever know. My single greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live." Best line in the trilogy.

Xavier and Magneto visiting a young Jean- excellent scene
The Origin of Angel
Storm's use of her power's
Wolverine in action

Xavier's death
Kitty s as a new member
The cannonball special with Wolverine and Collosus
Bobby finally icing up and his showdown with Pyro
Kid Omega was interesting

some of the deleted scenes were good
bobby freezing phat
storm's wave

-Kelsey Grammar as Beast.
-The score
-Iceman icing Up
-The two scenes before the opening credits

That's about it.

The only thing I really liked was the action sequences and the stepping up of Storm, though I would've preferred she had an African accent of some sort, and that they would've left a portion of Storm getting some hits in when she first fought Callisto, like on the deleted scences

Killed off Cyclops

Beast

Good action scenes

a Reasonable explanation for the Phoenix

The Nightcrawler vs Secret Service fight in X2 alone is better then every fight scene in X3 combined.

And I found that deleted scene to be really goofy (couldn't Storm just directly shock Juggernaut?)

I actually just watched it this afternoon.

Beast and Kitty were very good. Storm more developed. The action scenes were a lot more exciting, I really liked seeing Iceman "ice up." I liked how it was sort of a changing of the guards with Storm and Wolverine being the leaders. The score was good though some tracks felt out of place.

That's really it. The rest was forgettable.

I liked a few things about this film like:
The emotional scene with a young Warren and his dad at the beginning of the film, that was sad.
The Pheonix/Xavier Brawl, that whole scene was crazy and is part of the reason I don't put a huge blame on Ratner cause he gave us the best scene in the trilogy. Although I do blame him for choosing to put more action over story in the movie. I really liked when wolverine opens the door and you see a piece of glass float across the screen, I love ratner's attention to detail in this scene as well as a few others in the movie. And when Jean spreads her arms and the scene goes into slow-mo, classic. "Don't let it control you'
I also liked Storm in this movie, she was so much more confident and although her and Jeans flying was very wired looking when she flew at jean's house that was great, I just wish that the tornado she was the eye of would have moved with her, it just stayed in the same spot as she moved. And her eulogy at Prof. X's funeral was great Halle did a great job.
Beast was written and acted wonderfully he was the most developed of all the new characters.
And even though some say it sends out the wrong message I liked the fact that rogue took the cure. She wanted to take it as would almost every living being who had her powers, especially those in her age group, to not be able to touch your loved ones must suck and you really felt the weight of her decision. Having her take it was realistic.
Thats about it...

Kelsey Grammar's portrayel of Beast was excellent.

The pacing, the score, the effects, an actual cool cyclops (despite limited screen time), beast, wolvie's forest fight, the tragic ending, the jean grey house battle, storm being a leader, wolverine finally feeling 'at home' with friends.....

Yeah I liked the Kitty/Juggarnaunt scene. Lol she called him a dick head.

Days of Future Past in the Danger Room
Beast
Bobby finally icing up
Storm's hair was at its best
Cyclops before he was killed off (as Andino said)
The first scene with Angel (as Compi said)

I liked the Juggernaut/Wolverine showdown at Jean Grey's home. And the end credits.

That was probably the most intense fight scene out all three movies.
