For me I will always love Batman 1989 and Batman Returns the best, although I also loved TAS and of course Batman Begins.

Mask of the Phantasm
Batman Returns
Batman 1989
Batman: The Animated Series
Batman Begins
The Batman
Batman Forever
Batman Beyond
Batman & Robin

B:TAS is way too watered down / kiddy friendly to be my favorite version of Batman. Not near enough grit and sense of danger, and/or wonder to that universe for me. As of now, I'm split between B89 and BEGINS. Both are IMO better than almost anything we've seen from the character on screen, on page, etc.

You found B89 and Begins better than anything in the comic books??

Wow....

TAS is the most faithful to the comics. The art was a great mix of simple lines and sophisticated light and shadow play.

Not neccessarily better, but the fact that they're both such great amalgamations of all things great about the character and mythos. Like look at BEGINS, it combines so many classic stories into one great cinematic epic. That's why at times I take it as being even better than some of the material it is based on. I love the little twists and addittions made to make these stories into movies.

Not to mention I feel B:TAS is way over-hyped. It was at heart a program meant for kids, and even the best of B:TAS episodes still don't touch the best stories from the comics. It's just too watered down. It's a G version of PG-13 material. I could in no way buy it as being the definitive, and/or best version they could put out of this character. People say it's the closest to the comic in terms of adaptation, but it made many changes in adapting the material ... just as B89 and BEGINS did. However, with that said, I find the tangible looks to seeing these mythic characters from a page represented by actual people on screen to be much more enthralling, and interesting.

LOL great choice

I can't vote for TAS, after "batman in my basement" among other episodes, it was too hit and miss, the two face story was great, but then some just missed the mark by too far.

Batman: TAS, and all of the Batman-related DCAU to follow, easily.
It achieved what any Batman film will never achieve.

Had this been solely films, then Batman Begins had this competition beat.

Batman Begins :batman: :batty:

I'm torn between Batman Returns (still the best Batman movie) and The Animated Series.

Begins comes close, in second place after those two.

Batman Returns is my favourite movie followed by B89 but for pure faithfulness it has to be BTAS the only thing missing from it is the extreme violence of the comics.

BTAS had it's moments. The bashing Joker got in the climax to Mask of the Phantasm was pretty cool. He lost a tooth and everything.

For me it's a tie so far between Batman Begins and BTAS. Though I'm sure TDK will be also after I've seen it next year.

As the performance of the Batman character himself his movement, voice and his difference from the Wayne character (in that you would NEVER expect wayne to be Batman) Keaton wins hands down.

begins. lol someone actually voted for the desparate housewives one just wait til someone says batman and robin.

Slight alteration:

Mask of the Phantasm
Batman 1989
Batman Returns
Batman: The Animated Series
Batman Begins
The Batman
Batman Forever
Batman Beyond
Batman & Robin

Batman Begins Continuity

Best Comic Adaptations + B:TAS Characterizations + Realism + Threatning Villains + Christian Bale + HUGE dose of bad ass-ness = Chris Nolan's Batman Mythology

Batman Begins for me.
Then Mask of the Phantasm and TAS, then Returns , then B89.
