I was just watching the greatest incarnation of Batman (*outside of the comics*) ever produced. Adam West Batman? Nah. Batman '89 film? No. Batman Begins?? Umm...nope. No, I am referring to the "classic" Batman The Animated Series! I love this show in style, story, character, voice, and method. To me, this show represents the definitive Batman for young and old alike. Now, with that aside, I was curious as to what is considered the fan favorite episode of all-time. It's difficult for me to really pick just one being I dig just about all of 'em. However, I have listed a top six, starting with my personal favorite...
1) THE LAUGHING FISH
2) HEART OF ICE
3) ALMOST GOT HIM
4) THE DEMON'S QUEST (part 1&2)
5) HARLEY AND IVY
6) ROBIN'S RECKONING (part 1 & 2)
Let me know what you all think out there and let's put it up to a vote.

Classic TAS. Hmmm...I'll have to think about that.
As far as the last season goes, I like Legends of the Dark Knight myself or the one where Batgirl dies, but it's a dream or hallucination.

I don't have a favorite, but like many. I also know Toon Disney is playing a small selection of the first season but that is it. Does anyone know the names of the following episodes or where I can find them as I haven't seen them all in years and really want to.

-The two-parter where Ra's Al Ghul shows ups as the main villain.
-The Hugo Strange/Talia first appearance
-The episode that recaps why Robin became Nightwing
-The episode where Batgirl "dies" and Gordon goes on a war path for Bruce Wayne afterwards. BTW what was Bruce and Barbara's...full relationship in this show? I thought it was always kind of vague.
-The episode that recalls different eras and interpretations of Batman comics with kids remembering the Bat.

If anyone knew where I could stream those episodes or just the names I'd be really happy to see them. Thanks.

P.S. I won't vote on that list as the Ra's first appearance, Laughing Fish (which is on Toon Disney all the time), Heart of Ice and Almost Got Him were all classics. As were a few others of classic TAS on Fox that aren't listed.

- "The Demon´s Quest" Part 1 and 2.
- Hugo Strange: "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne", Talia Al Ghul: "Off Balance".
- Old Wounds
-Over the Edge
-Legends of the Dark Knight.

And they kind of explained the Bruce-Barbara relationship in Mistery of the Batwoman and some episodes of Batman Beyond.

It´s hard to pick an episode because there where many. But comes to my mind Mad Love.

robin's reckoning both parts

Day of the samurai was incredibly smart as it deals with bruce's inferiority complex.

Perchance to dream deals with bruce's inability to deal with his perfect world no matter how good it is (which is funny because he happily accepts it all in 'For the man who has everything' although he may have viewed the latter from a child's mind).

Feat of clay and the two face eps were always my favourite two parter eps.

and you can't really consider having a batman thread without 'on leather wings' as an option because that ep is pretty much spot on perfect. Not to mention the cape and cowl conspiracy.

his silicon soul also deals with some interesting issues of 'who am i'.

"Feet of Clay" has always been my favorite. Part 1 with Batman hanging Raymond Bell over the city from the Batplane! And Part 2 is great, too! Excellent!

Of the ones listed, "Heart of Ice."

this poll is more like "what is your favourite episode out of my top 6 episodes"

I am running a similiar poll with over 30 choices and the ones you have listed aren't ranking well at all in it.

My personal favourites:

- Almost got 'Im
- Trial
- Showdown
- Two Face part 1&2
- The Demon's Quest part 1&2
- The Laughing Fish
- Old Wounds
- Over the edge
- Feat of Clay part 1&2
- Mudslide
- The Man who killed Batman

Is that the one where he ends up buying an old fashioned grappling hook and climbs some tower and fights Batman...and I think it turns out to be a Mad Hatter episode?

And I always did like His Silicon Soul.

- "The Demon´s Quest" Part 1 and 2.
- Hugo Strange: "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne", Talia Al Ghul: "Off Balance".
- Old Wounds
-Over the Hedge
-Legends of the Dark Knight.

YOu know where I could find these online?

Also since I only thought it was hinted at in BB (which I haven't seen in years) and haven't seen Batwoman, is there more to that?

my top two are probably "Almost Got 'Im" and "I Am the Night".

The options in that poll are way too limited.

If you're not going to include "Two-Face Part 1", "Sideshow", "Perchance to Dream", "Beware the Gray Ghost", "The Man Who Killed Batman", "Legends of the Dark Knight", "Dreams in Darkness", "Trial" or "Over The Edge", at least put an option "Other"...

:o

I've always really really liked The Laughing Fish, adapted by Dini and directed by Timm. It's such a manic idea thats completely Joker, and there's parts of it that are really quite scary (When the shark goes past the window next to The Joker is actually pretty frightening.) Dini never wrote a bad episode.

I always loved 'Be A Clown', infact thats probably my favourite.

The simple fact is almost all of the episodes are wonderful, which is rare. A more effective thread would be "what episodes weren't great", and then we list the episodes to avoid. The few I can remember as being bad were -

- The Underdwellers
- I've Got Batman In My Basement
- Tyger Tyger (I got all the Blake references, I just didn't like it)
- The Worry Men
- The Terrible Trio
- Baby Doll
- Lock-Up
- Mystery Of The Batwoman

I don't think its a coincidence that almost all of the episodes I've named as disliking feature original/unpopular villains, so I'm sure that has alot to do with it. And scrolling wikipedia's episode list to come up with this list, I noticed that almost all of Joker's appearances in TAS were written by Dini. I guess thats why he was always incredible.

Really? I thought it was awful. Probably the worst Joker episode of the series. The idea of attacking the Mayor's mansion was good, but Joker entertaining the little kid, Jordan, and being his tutor in magic etc was just silly.

Also, Batman had some awful one liners in this. "Alright Joker, get ready for a little Bat magic".

:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Can't really decide.

Fixed LOL.

Try Veoh, and as far as I know, there´s no more than that (Bruce Barbara).

Before I vote, is "Heart Of Ice" Freeze's origin?

I think that's a good list (especially On Leather Wings), but I have to disagree with you on two points.
1-Night of the Ninja is the episode that deals with Bruce's lack of confidence in facing Kyodai. By the ninja's second appearance in Day of the Samurai, Batman's already faced him and beaten him, so he hardly feels inferior.
2-In Perchance To Dream, Bruce does accept his perfect life is real, momentarily at least. After Dr. Thompkins convinces him that his life as Batman was a delusion, he jokes with Alfred about finding the Batcave, connects with his father, and seems content to live his life until he picks up a book and, when he cannot read it, realizes that he's trapped in a dream. It's more a matter of Batman, being the detective, reasoning his way out of an almost perfect trap, and while he gives up a lot to go back to the real world, he was still willing to accept the dream when he thought it was reality. The difference between the Mad Hatter's dream machine and the alien in "The Man who has everything", moreover, is that Batman remembered his real life when he was trapped in the dream, whereas if the alien had the same effect on him as it did on Superman, he did not.

Anyway, I did really like "Almost Got Him".
