The Strain

I can't wait for the 2nd one, I really liked this, mainly because it seemed so plausible to me. Between this and Dark Days coming out, I've gotten into a vampire mood. Are there any movies or books anyone can recommend with the more feral, true creatures of the night vampires? The 30 Days of Night vamps are my favorite... they aren't well kept gentlemen like the original Dracula, or ridiculous excuses for vampires that go gallavanting through the woods in broad daylight; they're monsters that don't just suck your blood, they feast. I'm starting Salem's Lot tonight, which I hear is pretty awesome.

You have probably seen it already, but the vamps in 'From Dusk til Dawn' fit that criteria, and yeah, I liked the vamps in 30dan too, as one film reviewer said, i wish we had got monsters like that in the I am Legend movie, instead of the CGI ones.
The vamps in 'the Lost boys' as well are the old fashioned viscous kind.

American Psycho: Bret Easton Ellis.

Just finished that one, still mulling it over......

Slam by Nick Hornby

A good, quick, and thoroughly enjoyable read. The plot is pretty basic high school stuff, but Hornby has a great talent for writing the protagonists' internal voice, and a sharp sense of humor. Definitely an author I'll be returning to in the near future.

Black Hills-Nora Roberts
Last Breath-Mariah Stewart
Current reading Map of Bones-James Rollins

I agree man. High Fidelity was one of those books that I read in college and it seemed to be written for and about me.

Started The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky about 4pm this afternoon and finished it just now. read it in under 12 hours

Baltimore or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden.

A really enjoyable book, a bit of a slow start but it really kicks in later on. Is a simple writing, but the narrative structure is very well done. Even with the book stands well on its own, if you do like Mignola's works you will definitely enjoy "Baltimore" with its gothic horror tone and the creepy atmosphere.

Robert Ludlum - The Scorpio Illusion. Great book from Ludlum as always. Great twisty plot, many crosses and double crosses, a really deep conspiracy that I saw no way for the main character overcoming.

My next book is going to be John Gardner's 4th Bond novel "Role Of Honor." I'm going through the whole series in order, but I'm breaking stuff up with another book here and there.

Spider-Man The Darkest Hours.

Great read with some incredible scenes, and really great ones that humanize the Rhinopast a dumb brute with a horn, and i loved reading it, the est reading ive had in a long time

The Fountainhead--- One of the worst books I have ever read. It was such tripe. This woman was a hack.

Into the Wild--- A moving story; hard to put down. I really identified with McCandless despite having wildly different backgrounds. This is definitely a book I'd read again.

What about her do you like? It certainly cannot be her skills as a writer.

I do love her writing. I guess people have different tastes, after all I do have a degree in English Literature and obviously have bad taste.

In the Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami

It was good. Along the same lines of American Psycho.

The Wild Ass's Skin by Honore de Balzac
