so far we've had most of the living dead series, texas chainsaw and Halloween, hills have eyes, amityville

now its been announced that the original crew are coming back to remake child's play and Platinum Dunes has got the birds, elm street and friday all in the pipe line

i may be interested in childs play but why the hell are the others being redone:cmad::huh:

Hollywood sucks. That's why.

because people pay to see their old favorite movies redone in a new light, because franchise names sell, and because hollywood is first and foremost a company, and like every other company, they will do what makes money.

if you don't like it, don't see it, and then it won't concern you at all. don't act like any of these remakes effects you in a personal way. they don't.

all of those movies were great, though.

the night of the living dead remake was infinitely superior to the original, day of the dead was a fabulous movie in it's own right, and land of the dead and (especially) diary of the dead have proved that romero can't be trusted with his own franchise anymore.

and the texas chainsaw and halloween remakes were very good, especially considering that what they were remaking weren't that good to begin with, other than the nostalgia factor.

and the amityville horror remake? well, i never saw the original, but i did see the remake, and a few parts scared me pretty damned good, so... it was an alright movie.

i have no doubt that the new friday the 13th movie will be better than the original, too. those movies are relics, and obvious bi products of their time. none of them aged well at all... i'm sure people will say the same about these remakes in 20 years, but for now? they'll suffice.

i do agree that the night remake was a far better movie, and texas and halloween did have there high points, amity was just plain bad.

what i mean is why do remakes of films that arn't that old, i mean childs play gets a 20th anniversary dvd in september, i can understand a film that was made in the 40's or 50's getting remade but there is such a little space have time having pasted a remake loses any impact it may have had

why make a horror movie that is 20 years old? well, i'd imagine the reason is that most movie goers these days are 15-30, give or take, so, unless they saw (for example) child's play when they were 10 or under (very doubtful) then the movie execs didn't get any of their money. so, they remake it now and, shazam! money.

i know it's a messed up system, but it makes money, and if you don't like remakes, ignore them.

of course, i say that now, when they're not remaking any movie i held dear, but in 20 years, when they're remaking the matrix and fight club and doing a friends or reaper (the tv shows) movie with none of the original actors and they start to change things.... well, i might feel differently then.

They get made because they don't cost much to make and will most always recoup that cost fairly easily from high school and college students that have little else to do besides go to movies during the weekend. Same reason we keep getting the _____ Movies. Personally I think they're all pretty crappy and rely to much on blood and guts than a good story. The Halloween remake was a prime example, that movie just was over the top blood, guts and profanity.

In all honesty, I'd rather have remakes being done than a bunch of crappy DTV-quality sequels running around. Those are almost as if the directors/producers have given up on the movie. At least the people behind the remakes are trying to live up to something.

I liked Halloween, and am looking foreward to the new Friday the 13th. And I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I liked All of the horror remakes. The one I gotta say i didn't like was Shutter. It was just a boring and cliche ghost movie as the grudge and the ring.

Most writers these days are too damn lazy to come up with original concepts.

If the Original Crew includes Brad Dourif as the Voice of Chucky I'm pretty much all for that. You can't have another Actor Voice the same way you can't have Freddy Krugger without Robert Englund

Dude you just gotta let it go. RObert's in his 60's now and nowhere in shape to play freddy anymore. As much as i like him theit gonna have to cast someone else.

Then just don't remake the movie then.
Well, its cause some fans want a new freddy movie.

And don't gimme the excuse there's always the old ones. They look out dated and theres always room for updates. You know some people should really give some things a chance bfor crying foul. They don't know a thing about the movie and they're crying.

if you don't like don't see it. They're not harming the other ones. It's simple as that.

sorry, but Brad Dourif became a parody of himself the same way that Robert Englund did.

both roles can be done better with the right actors, in my opinion.

Exactly late on it became about the comedy with some horror thrown in.

word.

Its nice to see people who don't cry about anything on here. You mention the mere word "remake" and everyone pisses their pantsuits.:o

yeah, and everytime a remake is mentioned, it all of a sudden becomes everyone's "favorite" movie... even though it's one of those movies that no one has watched in at least 10 years.

Like for instance a movie like "My Blood Valentine"

Most people don't even know of it since it was one of the less known movies.

So if you didn't use the remake word i'm sure most wouldn't know its one at all.

exactly... i think "classic" is a word people throw around too carelessly around here.

just because it's old, doesn't make it a classic.

I gotta say that the original Friday the 13th was crap I thought. and its considerd a classic. The first nightmare on elm street now thats a classic.

I'm glad Friday the 13th is getting a redux.

I hope people don't consider Friday the 13th, or any other Jason movie a classic. The Exorcist is a classic. Night of the Living Dead is a classic. The Omen is a classic. The Jason movies are movies that you sit back and watch with your friends, while you criticize and laugh at it. The first one was of course the best of them, but the series definitely was cursed by the 80's plague of too many sequels.

Oh, people do. thats why then the news hit they has their panties in a wad cause they were messing up a classic. their words not mine.

i didn't think any of them were any good.

were any of them more than "kids having sex at camp get killed by some zombie guy with a machette"?

the best one was freddy vs. jason, for me.
