Almost anyone who hasn't lived under a rock since 1984 knows of the days when the NES ruled the gaming world. That time has largely faded over the years...and yet, there's still those of us who'd love to plug in an old gray Game Pak, and enjoy the ride, old-school style.

So, here's the place to list your favorite adventures from days past.

Here's a few of my faves...

Just curious: what's your time record for beating the original SMB game, level by level, with no cheats or hacks? Mine's about 45 minutes, and I usually (but not always) only use one life.

Super Mario Bros 3
Mega Man 1-6
Maniac Mansion
Snake, Rattle, & Roll
Duck Tales
Bionic Commando
Kirby's Adventure

I'm a 8-bit gaming addict. :)

I hope Duck Tales comes to VC. That game rocked. :yay:

I agree...in fact I would love Capcom to renew the licensing for those characters so that we could have Duck Tales 1&2, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers 1&2, Darkwing Duck, and Tale Spin all on the VC.

Not a clue. I haven't played it on the NES in over 10 years. Last time I actually played that game was on the Game Boy Color. Still my favorite 8-Bit game.

Legend of Zelda and Metroid were my two favorite games. The Mega Man series was also great, dowloaded 9 last night.

I didn't get seriously into the Metroid franchise until the SNES version came out, though I did play the original a few times (never could find Ridley in the blasted thing). I played every Mega Man title like a nutcase, with parts 2 and 3 being my faves. As for Zelda, i beat the First Quest, but never could find the 5th dungeon or best sword in the Second Quest (The NES Game Atlas lied).

Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros 3
Contra
TMNT2: the Arcade Game!!!!
Darkwing Duck from Capcom

I've never understood why people like Mega Man 2 and 3 the most, I'm a much bigger fan of the first. Got both 2 and 3 in back to back Christmases and beat both within a day or two and not even playing all day because I remember always hanging out with cousins or friends the day after Christmas, not playing games for most of the day. They were great games, just too easy.

It's probably because aspects of the series that would later become mainstays were first introduced in those two games. The presence of eight Robot Masters rather than six, the slide, Rush the Robo-Dog, Wily's castle and map, Protoman...all of these were set up in those 2 titles.

They were two of my favorites in the series also...for just the reasons you mentioned. They introduced most of the major things that made me fall in love with the series in the first place. On top of that, they made the difficulty perfect in those, just hard enough to make you feel good when you beat them, but not as hair pulling difficult as the first game.

Plus the music in both two and three, in a word, was fantastic.

Bionic Commando
Ninja Gaiden 2
Mega Man 2
Simon's Quest
Contra
Ring King
Tecmo Pro Wrestling
Super Mario Bros 2
And motha f**king Duck Hunt.

Bout time. That game was the S**T! I have yet to play a football video game that has come close to the sheer fun factor of playing Tecmo Bowl. Easily my all time favorite game on the NES.

Also, (because I forgot about them.) Life Force, Hudson's Adventure Island, the Legendary Wings, and Jackel.

What's the highest level anyone here's gotten to on "Duck Hunt"? the last time i played it was probably 10 years ago, and I hit Level 27 if I remember right.

Ninja Gaiden 2
Zelda 2
Double Dragon 2
Mega Man 2
Kickle Cubicle

I got to about 23,24. My brother had gotten all the way to 90 something, but he was sitting right in front of T.V. with the gun. Still, that's quite an accomplishment.

Donkey Kong
Tecmo Bowl
Blaster Master
Bionic Commando
Duck Tales
Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros (1 and 3)
