3D is the most pointless thing I've ever seen. So I'd go with a big massive no on 3D TV's. I don't get the big thing about why it's so awesome.
As I said before, there's nothing that's going to keep us from continuing to advance this technology...
Sure, we've gotten better in terms of making our TVs flatter, achieving better resolution, better sound, digital, wi-fi streaming and all that, but 3D is the thing that we
must have as a lily pad to creating an even better and immersive watching experience. Talk to any scientist who has studied our trends in technology and the next logical step will have to come in the form of 3D or a version of hard light technology or holograms. 3D should be considered the first iteration of this process.
I remember reading about the complaints back in the 1920's about how sound in movies was pointless and how color in TV/movies in the 1940's was pointless..
But people eventually came around to it..
Let's remember that 3D is still an extremely new technology (relative speaking), despite it being everywhere (phones, movies, tv, books, games,..etc). 3D was still in conceptual stages back in the late 80's, early 90's, but it was limited by the technology at the time. Now, I think that we're finally getting the hang of it and now that the technology is now becoming profitable, we're seeing an exponential growth in the motivation to make it better and better. At this rate, I think it'll only take a good 5 more years before it is commonplace and/or evolved into something everyone can accept.
The 3DS has pretty plausible 3D, so long as you're looking at it straight on and can actually see out of both eyes.
I actually enjoy having the option of having the 3D at moments, especially when playing games like Zelda or Mario 3D Land. I doubt Nintendo expected most people to have the 3D turned on all the time,..
