you know when a girl asks you if shes fat and you know she is, but want to be nice about it and just tell her no shes not, do you think in situations like these its common couresty to lie?

when you are going to hurt someone's feelings that you know is sensitive to a certain subject.

in your case, you should tell her. You lying isn't going to make her any skinnier...

it would be different if you didn't think she was fat or you didn't mind her body shape but you state you clearly do, so just tell her. It's not going to be anything she doesn't know already and in all fairness it may help in helping her change her body size which is something she probably wishes to accomplish anyway.

If it involves your girlfriend.

when someone asks "so, hows you like my mommas food?"
you don't want to end up the bud of a Sugar Hill and the Gang song.

if she asks if she's fat the chances are she already knows she's fat so its up to you whether you want to carry on to make her feel better

Telling lies is what keeps me alive.
i agree.
i lie as easily as i breathe.
a lot of times i lie for no reason, then i have to tell the person that i'm sorry but i retract that former statement.
i think the only people you should need to lie to is your family, sometimes ignorance is truly bliss.

When the truth will be too late to do any good.

For example: If someone dies, then you don't have to tell unpalatable truths to their family.

In the case of the girl who asked "Am I too fat" the correct response would be, "I think we both need to exercise more if we want to stay healthy"

red, you know if your hubby said that to you, you'd beat him to death...

:wow: Wrong!!! Those are the people you need to tell the truth to the most. If you can't trust your family, who in blue blazes CAN you trust? Honesty is about trust. If you lie all the time, no one can trust you.

 Or was your whole post just a lie? If you lie all the time, for no reason, how can we believe the post. But if the post is a lie, then you tell the truth, but if you're telling the truth, you're lying... :cmad:

That's not the correct response, though. The correct response would be 'yes' if the person is fat, and 'no' if the person is not.

People only lie in order to make their own lives that little bit easier and hassle free. To dress it up as anything else is *gasp* a lie.

:D There's only 1 better way to start a morning, and I'm at the office and they don't permit that here... ;)

well i don't see it as starting a morning, rather ending a long night beforehand...

but that's swings and roundabouts...

gah think of it like this...all those times that youre at a bar and you see a hot girl so you go up and talk to her and she tells you "No thank you, I have a boyfriend."

she's lying to you.

No way. I don't care what people think.
I just get tired of making myself nauseous with ugalee food that stinks.*shrug*

If you tell someone you like their nasty cooking, then you'll just have to eat it again. Have some courtesy for yourself.

People lie for all sorts of reasons, sometimes people lie with good intentions.Other times, its to get out of situations,or to avoid judgement.
