When will Walt Disney get a biopic?

1. He was cheated out of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit by Universal who then stole the character, all of Disney's animators and said "either you join us, or we carry on without you." This led Disney to develop Mickey.

2. Initially no company wanted to use Mickey. Walt set up a 'secret' screening.

3. Disney faced bankruptcy SEVERAL times,

4. Opening of Disneyland at first was an absolute nightmare due to overcrowding that was televised. Things got better.

5. Walt faced some back stabbing from friends and employees.

6. Pinnochio, Fantasia and Bambi were all box office FLOPS. Even though they stood the test of time.

So, what we've got is an under dog story. Before reading about Disney, I thought everything was up. But, his journey had a lot of falls before he got up.

A film about Walt should definitely be made. He's deserving of one

They can't make a faithful showing of his life, as they'd have to show the child murder, and the fact that he consumed the flesh of living jews to sustain his horrible, undead hunger. Also, the fact that Disney World is powered by the blood of virgins going over satanic waterwheels.

Wait wait wait...I'm thinking of Michael Eisner, not Walt...Nevermind :o

Even so, that'd still make a great movie.

At least they made a terrifically accurate game about his life. Although I don't know why the makers of Bioshock felt the need to call him Andrew Ryan instead of Walt Disney.

One of my dreams for my career in animation is to be involved with a Biopic about Walt Disney's life, and I would actually want it to be animated. The real hard part though, would be whether or not Disney would let it be a tribute that honestly portrays a great man who had some flaws, or if they'd just want it to be a shameless promotional piece.

Okay, so he's frozen he wants to be brought back, right?

He wants to be brought back to direct his own biopic. :cwink:

I also read on some website that his head is alive and it gets around on mechanical spider legs.

Walt Disney can't get a biopic. Not while the Disney corporation is still going strong.

Disney, unlike, say, John Warner or even Ted Turner, is the eternal face of the company. Biopics tend to expose the flaws in character that hide behind the public face. Disney the company can't afford to allow the reputation of Disney the man be tarnished.

I don't usually get into Biopics...but I'd really like to see one about Walt.

It's the same reason they have not made a Charles Lindberg biopic. Most people don't know they were both Nazi sympathizers and anti-semites. Their legacies are actually thought of in a relatively good light, despite the truth about them. Once a biopic comes out and the truth comes out, they would be looked at differently. Nobody wants that job. Plus, it's tough to make a biopic of someone much of the audience will not like. If you leave all the bad stuff about them out, people will say why, if you include it people will say why. It's a no win situation for a studio and filmmaker.

Well, this idea is wonderful, I have also thought of this, but there is no one for a Disney biopic. Sorry.

Either Edward Norton or Ryan Gosling for Walt Disney if they ever try to make one.

Here's your Walt Disney right here -

Gosling does kind of look like him when he was young.

Isn't Walt Disney a racist or something like that? He hates Jews, Blacks etc. Even though I like Disney World and all, I don't really like Walt himself if he is indeed a racist and would never watch a movie about him.

That's like some kind of urban legend/running gag thing. They claimed he had nazi ties but it's never been proven.

Naw, I don't think he was racist, he was just a capitalist. During the Mcarthey era, he supposedly snitched on alot of people in Hollywood who was supposed to be communist or had communist ties and got them black listed.

Isn't Tom Hanks playing Disney revolving around him getting the rights to Mary Poppins?

Walt hired his song writers the Sherman Bros who were Jews, he hired Floyd Norman (artist) who is black. He hired Japanese artists, Bob Kuwahara, Chris Ishii, Tom Okamoto, Masao Kawaguchi, James Tanaka, Gyo Fujikawa and Bennie Nobori. He also hired Carl Weeks (animator) who was from India. The ride It's a Small World represents all races and cultures. as peace for the world. He planted Olive Trees at the Disneyland hub which he knew were significant to many cultures around the world. He was the The chairman of the "Pageantry Committee" for the opening and closing ceremony of the 1960 Winter Olympics which he produced.
