Hi i am new to this forum,

EDIT: I have now found a comic shop near my house.

EDIT: Also, does Ultimate Spiderman tie in with the movies?

http://www.forbidden-planet.co.uk/ It's forbidden planet INTERNATIONAL so im sure they also have a US office

ebay.com

marvel.com and
dccomics.com both do subscriptions

Amazon.com for cheap trade paperbacks

My recommendation? Use ebay and amazon for back issues and trades straight to your door. then find a Local Comic Shop (LCS) and set up a subscription with them. it'll be supporting a barely profitable business and the likelihood is that it'll be run by fans, so they should be able to help you :)

Since everyone else has told you where to find comics, are you looking for any recommendations? What catches your interest? Anything you might want to look for that is not Spidey related?

Quick suggestion: Ultimate Spider-Man, start from the beginning and work your way up to the present (issue 96). Well written, sometimes a bit wordy but it always pays off in the end. A perfect jumping on point for a new reader, eager for some Spidey.

nooooooooooooo! lol.

Buy Amazing Spider-Man and get into classic spider-man. we're losing good men every day to the ultimate spider-man fiend. Amazing Spider-Man is what the movie's were (loosely) based upon and he's recently unmasked, has a new suit and is embroiled in a civil war between other heroes. its fun stuff... well, mostly.

Go to Amazon and you'll get the best deal available for books. Plus, they'll have resources there to connect you with other online retailers! I did TONS of business w/Amazon when i got back into comics, and there was never a bad transaction or choice on there part!

Ahhh yes, another convert to the cause.Welcome.

Midtowncomics.com and Dreamlandcomics.com

Hi i am new to this forum,

i have seen spiderman 1 and 2 and decided i would like to read some marvel comics.

Please could someone tell me if there is a website i could buy comics from

you could also try some local book stores. most of them sell graphic novels (or trade paper backs). graphic novels usually collect 6 comics into one book. without ads. some bookstores sell single comics, too.

I've used Dreamland for some TPBs and have had nothing but trouble. Only got 2 of the 3 books I ordered and they stopped returning my emails. I know they moved but its been months. I might have to file a claim with Visa.
On a better note, the books I did get were in great shape.
Just be careful. Good Luck.

I am slightly more interested in Spider-man, i would like to read comics about stuff to do with the films.

Should i buy the amazing spider-man comics then?

P.s. Thank You for all the suggestions you have given me

Maybe try starting with ultimate spider-man trades. If you start collecting current contuinuity Amazing Spider-man you maybe confused as it has been ongoing since the 60s. Ultimate spider-man is marvels way of updating spider-mans origin for the twenty-first century. The basic story of Spider-Man is unchanged, but the book retells major stories with a twist, it also includes some decentwriting, and nice illustrations. It has Only been running a couple of years, and will be easier for you to go back to the begining.

If you have a Barnes & Noble in your town, then try looking for the Essentials or the Marvel Masterworks. Those collect more of the classic storylines.

nope. there may have been a couple of movie-based comics. i know they certainly did versions for x-men and superman returns, but all in all the movies take the "best ideas" from the classic comics, the animated series and all other spider-man media to form their own version of spider-man.
i advise buying the first trade paperback of ultimate spider-man if you just want something close to the movies *mumbles to self about importance of amazing spider-man*

for all there is to know about spider-man, whether it be the "ultimate" version or "classic"/ "marvel 616" version visit:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man

wikipedia is good for anything comic book related really.

Does Amazing Spider-man tie in with the movies?

nothing really ties in with the movies, kid.
amazing spider-man is on issue 534 this week. thats a lot of history. the stories told in the movies have been sort of told in the comics along that time. you should really read wikipedia to see how closely (or not) you think it ties in

None of the comics tie into the movies (except for movie editions). The movies are just based off of the comics. Somethings are like they were in the comics others are completely of base.

please dont let your next question be: does sensational spider-man tie into the movies? ;) heheh answer: no

FNSM? no

New Avnegers? no.

Marvel Adventures SM? no.

Afraid not, my friend.

okay thank you for all your help;

i have come to a decision as to what comic i will start reading.....

:spidey: The Amazing Spider-man

i take it that you read amazing spider-man LOL
