I'd also check to see if your city has a "classic movie night" or something in one of the older theaters.

The Orpheum in Memphis has a Classic Movie Series. If my town has one, there has to be one in other towns.

The Wizard of Oz remake would probably due quite well. I imagine it would look similar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and that movie made over 200 million.

As for who could play Dorothy, Julia Stiles comes to mind. The choices of young actresses aren't real good unless Dorothy is going to be a strung out crack ****e.

Emmy Rossum was one name suggested as a possibility for the girl from Kansas.

I really like Nicole Kidman as Glenda the Good Witch.

The Wicked Witch of the West has to be Cloris Leachman.

As for the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion:

The re-release made 35 million. That is pretty bad.

But weren't that the raped version and not the original film? I wouldn't see guns-to-phones & CGI-ET either.

As for the question asked in the topic. I'd say that instead remakin every old movie Hollywood should just re-release the olds. No one would be pissed and they'd make approx same amount money anyway.
