They ruined that in the 80's.
The 80's movie is a classic in it's own right.
"Which classic franchises should Hollywood leave alone?"
All of them!! Write some original ****!
RoboCop. The first film is perfect so there is no reason to remake it. The sequels showed that there was no reason to touch RoboCop after the 1987 original. The studio and other filmmakers have shown that they do not understand what made the first film a masterpiece.
I've only seen the 80s Scarface, and it's not great. And even remakes of great movies (like Infernal Affairs) can be worth doing if the filmmakers put their own spin on the material (like The Departed). Anyway, the ones I thought of:Remakes can be original in their own right.
And I'd welcome a Scarface remake. I don't hate either version, but I don't find Scarface untouchable.
