Which classic franchises should Hollywood leave alone?

Remakes can be original in their own right.

And I'd welcome a Scarface remake. I don't hate either version, but I don't find Scarface untouchable.

RoboCop. The first film is perfect so there is no reason to remake it. The sequels showed that there was no reason to touch RoboCop after the 1987 original. The studio and other filmmakers have shown that they do not understand what made the first film a masterpiece.

Back to the Future
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Ghostbusters
Beetlejuice
Jurassic Park
Terminator
Lethal Weapon
Die Hard

Unfortunately, I think the franchise got ruined with a pair of subpar sequels already, and its vision of a futuristic world where cyborgs like Robocop can exist may actually benefit from the CGI technology that we have tonight. And ED-209 will not be stop-motion animation but could be awesome after we see what giant robots can be like from the Transformers movie. However, the cast in the original Robocop was perfect, and that more than anything else will be hard to replace. I watched this movie not long ago and it still holds up to this day.

None of them. Go nuts, if I think it looks bad I just won't watch it.

Star Wars saga
Indiana Jones
Jurassic Park
The Godfather trilogy
Gone with the Wind
Die Hard
Rocky
The Lord of the Rings (Jackson's versions should be it, including the Hobbit).
Lawrence of Arabia
E.T.

I've only seen the 80s Scarface, and it's not great. And even remakes of great movies (like Infernal Affairs) can be worth doing if the filmmakers put their own spin on the material (like The Departed). Anyway, the ones I thought of:

-Indiana Jones should never be done without Harrison Ford.
-Rocky should never be done without Silvester Stallone.
-James Bond can go on forever, but I don't think I'd want to see remakes of the older movies.
-Back to the Future. I don't see anything else that needs to be done with it.
-I don't want Alien or Aliens to be remade, but would be open to more movies featuring the aliens.
