Okay lets talk John Carpenter movies. I think he has made some of the most imaginative films, most of them horror and sci-fi others action adventure. All around I think it would be dificult to choose a favorite. Here's a list.

Halloween is the obvious choice, and it's mine, as well. It's just the best. Simple, yet very effective.

Aside from The Thing, he really hasn't done much else that's really great.

Escape from New York.

Escape From L.A.

Halloween

Vampires

The Thing

Christine

Halloween and Big Trouble in Little China

The Thing.

It is his most complete movie.

It looks dated by is almost flawless .... The acting, script, pace and look are all perfect.

Halloween (just a classic)

Christine (a bit freaky...but teriffic!)

The Thing of course...brilliant horror film

I'd say "Vampires" is his worst that I've seen so far. Even James Woods couldn't save it:down

3 way tie between Halloween, The Thing, and Big Trouble in Little China

No one has mentioned or seen Starman? Damn, do people make an effort not to see that film? Personally it's one of his best since it's really a dramatic departure from the work he's known for.

Jeff Bridges was nominated for an Academy Award, he puts on a great performance.

It saddens me that very few people give it the credit it deserves.

I of course chose The Thing, but here's my list in order:

The Thing
Starman
Scape from N.Y
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Big Trouble in Little china
Halloween 3 Season of the witch
Scape from L.A.
The Fog

Halloween is not on the list cuz I haven't seen it.

John Carpenter films I like in no particular order -

The Fog
Escape From New York
Big Trouble In Little China
The Thing (possibly my absolute favorite of his work)

Halloween is the best.

The Thing comes in close second.

Then Christine's pretty cool as well.

Though I love all of his movies my fav is Escape from L.A. Its a movie I can watch anytime day or night to put me in a great mood.

This is like choosing my favorite child

only harder.

Escape from New york

The Thing

Halloween

Escape from LA

Big trouble in little China

I love the soundtracks he puts on his films he has made some good tunes, i really like the escape from NY one, i brought the cd this week haha :D:D

The only one of those I haven't seen is Starman. I own it and intend to watch it very soon. Only then will I be able to vote on this poll.

Haven't seen any of his films, I must say. Though he's not really at the top of my queue.

I SO Wanted to put "Big Trouble in Little China" b/c it's the funniest movie and still keeps all the action in pace! A rollercoaster ride to the tune of ID:ToD...

"Halloween's" a rare 4 star horror movie, "The Thing's" x10 better than the original, and "They Live" is the shortest 'epic' ever!

But alas, I had to stick to my roots and go with "Escape from New York"! Impressive effects for its day, a solid story, dark/action-packed, and well-acted!

No love for Vampires? One of my favorite films of all time. Up there with Repo Man, Ghostbusters and Big Trouble in Little China

I always felt Vampires could have done with some Kurt :D
