Which Netflix characters should be a part of the grander MCU now?

Unfortunately I think the Netflix characters (or any TV characters) will be recast if they ever appear in an MCU movie or even a Disney+ series. James D'Arcy's recent cameo makes it seems like if any future movies' directors/ series' show runners use a character already cast by someone else, that characters must be (1) prominent enough (i.e. Ryan Coogler can't cast T'Challa as he wanted, because that character had been cast by someone else at the studio, and this is a prominent movie character), (2) the original actor must have a connection with the movies' directors/ series' show runners (Joe Russo directed an episode of Agent Carter, so he and his brother definitely know James D'Arcy, or they may even have a part in casting him themselves). Other than that, I don't think any new directors/ showrunners want to feel obligatory to work with a strange actor that they don't personally choose themselves: the movies/ Disney+ shows are "prestigious" enough that they can choose new actors if they want, and the Netflix series are "second tier" enough to be ignored by people at the movie studio.

So, if the hypothetical Daredevil-centric show on Disney+ has Erik Oleson as showrunner, I can see that he will cast Charlie Cox again. Or if Kevin Feige loves the Netflix shows so much, he might require the original cast to be used in movies/ Disney+ shows, I just don't think that's the case though.

That's for the actors; for the characters, I don't think they will be used by people at Marvel studio though, since they probably will want to recast and reintroduce when the series have faded from people's mind.

Charlie is the only one I can really see transitioning onto the big screen. I feel like the other 3 could easily be recast. Neither Iron Fist, Luke Cage or Jessica Jones actors were that great tbh and Feige could probably cast better of those 3. But Charlie should absoloutley crossover.

Man this Netflix deal sort of backfired in the end didn't it?
Only if you make the assumption that screen time could be found in 3 MCU movies a year to use any of the characters. Besides the Kingpin and maybe Daredevil showing up in a Spider-Man as a villain and temporary sidekick I couldn't see any NetFlix MCU character getting anymore screen time than Batroc in the Winter Soldier. Would you really want to give up say a Punisher complete story for a couple of minutes as a worse vigilante in a Feige chosen one character's movie?

I think this is all pretty erroneous after making Gary Shandling's senator and Agent Sitwell recurring roles in the MCU who both appeared in multiple films.

I think that a series as a protagonist/antagonist is still worth more than a glorified cameo even in 3 different movies. Especially if you want to see a favored character in action and learn about him and not just check an Easter egg box that a favored appeared.

We got Doctor Strange for one glorified cameo in Thor 3, and I thought it was pretty cool. It was just enough of Doctor Strange.

But you also got a Dr. Strange film, thus my hypothesis Netflix or not with 3 films a year you were not getting a Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Punisher and probably not Daredevil either with Spider-Man also swinging around New York. So I doubt a Netflix show featuring any of those characters wasted the opportunity for more than one fight in a star's movie and out of further MCU use like Batroc.

I'm inclined to agree. There just is not any existing project where without build up they fit in for more than a cameo. I think the Netflix shows allowed for them to actually be explored to great length in a way they would not have been in a movie.

I am still hoping all the shows come back. May be unlikely, but we'll see in a few years. At least the Daredevil cast seem very eager to jump on a revival.

Yes, but that would require admitting that TV and streaming are not intrinsically inferior mediums vs movies. More importantly, it would require admitting that not all characters are created equal, and some characters just don't operate on the scale and importance of Avengers-members.

One of my favorite story lines from the old F4 comics was when they teamed up with Daredevil after losing their powers. I'll admit it is not a very good story line for a movie. LOL.

Dare I say it??? Inhumans.....but maybe a redo of them. :cwink:

I'll one up you on that....I think everyone (at least those of you who took the time to watch it) wants to forget the Inhumans. I don't have to forget F#@&tastic or Inhumans and sleep better for having missed them.

I think that, fundamentally, the Inhumans just aren't good material for making a movie about them. They are weird and have all kinds of sketchy elements, that if taken seriously means that their society, at the very least. . . kind of are villains. I mean, lets be clear: Attilan is, at its core, a eugenics-based caste society that either keeps slaves or kept slaves until *very* recently. Its only kept from being the villain of the story ( sometimes! ) by being ruled by a noble reformist king, who still. . . has his personal and political power because of said eugenicist caste system.

Its just really hard to make the Inhumans the heroes of a story, especially when not even all the protagonists actually believe their society is wrong and needs to change.

I know the majority disliked Finn Jones' portrayal of Danny Rand. And would probably want a different actor if Iron Fist was ever resurrected in Marvel Cinematic Universe. But I think Finn Jones should be reintroduced in Shang Chi. The guy can pull it off if he's written correctly. I remember from an interview that after season 1 that Finn Jones approached the showrunner and wanted some of his ideas come to life. And the result? We got this smooth badass MOFO in Luke Cage Season 2

We also got the classic Iron Fist wisdom

And of course, your Heroes for Hire sneek peak
