I've just been off at least one major argument about DBZ from the Marvel thread, but it got me wondering "Who thinks Dragonball was a better series then DRagonball Z?" Of course, being two parts to the same series is neither here nor there for that question. What did everybody genuinly enjoy better? The original series in all it's fantasy /mysticism and humour, or DBZ in it's action packed sci-fi thriller style?

My vote goes to Dragon Ball.
I read the Mangas. Loved 'em.
and i watched the show. Loved it.
I dunno there arn't all those 5 episode special attacks in Dragon Ball.
and it's not so serious. Good times, good times.

To me it's kind of like the whole going to the top "Rocky" type of thing.
where before the tourny he trained with Master Roshi and all that.
It also shows Yamcha at a young age. and from what i remember Goku steals Yamcha's Love. LOL. ( Goku didn't even have to try!!! )

Wewt Dragon Ball FTW!

I liked dragonball, but loved DBZ. The action of DBZ won me over better than the lightheartedness of DB.

DBZ over DB... had more action involved and kept me entertained when I was bored

DB, because people who weren't Saiyajins could actually do things.

Interesting.

Personally, over all, I liked DB alot better. It was just fun, and it had enough action to keep me entertained but it's drawing element wasn't really the action, it was the adventure. On the other hand though, i always felt that there was very little character development because the Akira Toriyama couldn't afford it. Goku couldn't be anymore innocent and naive, and most of the characters stayed froughly the same through the entire series because changing them too much would harm the writing style for most of the series. I really beleive that Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiatzu were the only characters to truly develop, and they got to a certain point and stopped anyways.

On the other hand, DBZ was exceptional for developing it's characters through the entire series (especially Vegeta, Piccolo and Gohan). Truthfully, I enjoyed the series better until after the Freiza Saga, at which point it became tolerable and enjoyable, but it wasn't great. This was the point where everything was over the top. The Buu Saga was horrible for me. It lost alot of humour and it was much more serious. The adventure was gone and it was all about beating the next big threat. It wasn't about what powers Goku had mastered to beat his enemy, now it was about the power. And it just never appealed to me.

I think I talk too much.:csad:

DB was more interesting, but DBZ is better, IMO.

Couldnt this of been in the Dragonball thread?

DB FTW!!!!

Seriously though Dragon ball was just a great anime! To me it was a perfect mixture of action adventure and humor! Sometimes I hate Dragon Ball Z just because I got extremely tired of them constantly shoving how superior Saiyajins were down people's throats.

Dragon Ball was about skill and cunning! In dragon ball you could actually out hink and I REALLY miss the old days of Dragon ball with the characters cleverly creating new techniques.

I miss the old days of Dragon Ball when characters like Krillin was actually tough and just mentioning Piccollo's name made everyone S**t themselves! Back in Dragon Ball training actually believably paid off. In later Dragon Ball Z the villains became somewhat bland and repetitive and it soon became all about how many amazing new Levels a Saiyajin can reach!

I think it should have been Mystic Krillin or Mystic Yamcha! Or AT could have at least Hyper Humans to balance things out!(that last part was mostly a joke but I wasn't joking about the Mystic stuff.)

Dragon Ball for sure, DBZ just got annoying with that bunch of super powered muscle heads, screaming their heads off and causing mass destruction.

I shall take the route that Dragonball and Dragonball Z are the same series (as Toriyama did with the comic, for in reality it is).

All 42 Dragonball comic volumes > all of Dragonball GT.

I didn't watch DB till after DBZ because I'm slow in anime. Although Chatzou was the @#$% in DB

He also, didn't know what 2+2=. But then again, neither does Goku.

Tru Dat.

I think Chaozu was dyslexic or had autism.
Yamcha back in Dragon ball was the $#!^ :oldrazz:

Well until Goku turned into a giant gorilla...

I tell yea Krillian was a Pimp.
Google Maron in images and yo should get a girl that looks kinda like Bulma with Long hair. :word:

I am sure learning alot for Wiki.

Like for Ex. Lucy in the Sky is Bacterian. :word:
A huge filfthy competitor in the 21st Tenka-ichi Budōkai who has never washed or brushed his teeth since the day he was born. He uses his stench as a weapon since his opponents need to hold their noses closed, so he can attack them better. All of his special attacks are disgusting and range from spitting on his victim, to touching them with sweat from his groin. Kuririn almost loses to him, until Son Goku reminds Kuririn that he's just imagining the smell because he doesn't have a nose (A joke on Kuririn's drawn appearance). Which Kuririn quickly remembers and beats Bacterian almost instantly. Later, in the anime, it was revealed that he was homeless and living in a city dump.

That happened in Dragon Ball.
Here is a link to all the characters in Dragon ball.
It's quite humorous :woot:

I liked the start of Dragon ball up through the two tournements,

And I liked the Start of Dragon BAll Z up through the Freeiza saga equally.

That's about it. The whole cell thing didn't do it for me at all. Nor did Majin bu, like 300000000000000000 episodes.
