Hey folks.

Simple question. For those of your friends or family who might be apprehensive to watching The Dark Knight (or comics films) what would you show them to wake their ass up to reality?

When I was home for the holidays I had a sister saying she had no interest because it was about "comic books". I showed her the opening bank heist via my Blu-Ray and she changed her mind, saying "Wait, don't stop it now. Keep it going." That was all it took, apparently cuz we watched the entire film after that point. And she loved it.

Anyone have other ideas? Or, have you run into anyone like that who needs some.. education? lol

yea man i had the same problem with my dad
hes an old dude so i tried my best to get him to see it
and while he was in the room while me and my nephews watched
he just would watch but wouldnt say anything until an explosion
then hed turn to my bro-in-law and said"its movies like this that inspire terrorists..." i looked at him with a :wow: then:cmad: then:csad: but im sure if he saw it all hed like it

If you just showed someone the scene where the Joker talks to the mob they'd instantly watch the whole film. That scene is my favorite.

LOL!!!! That's the funniest **** i've ever heard! I wana meet your dad

"American Superhero flicks inspire terrorists!" :oldrazz:

Easy, the Pencil Trick. I've not seen a single person have no reaction to that.

Probably the interrogation scene.

LOL he calls bats the b1 cuz of the way he flies and says supes is better yup but i mean he saw all of the convoy chase and didnt say a word and when it ended he had a look like"....impressive..." he said the terrorist thing everytime joker blowed the **** outta something but i have to show him the bank robbery that would totally sway him

if people havent seen the dark knight or dont wanna after all the hype on the web and tv and all the money made and amazing reviews...theres really not much hope...but pencil scene would pull the idiot in to wanting to watch

Either the "Why so serious" scene with Gambol or the interrogation scene with Gordon and Batman.

Heh, I thought the little bit that my dad saw convinced him.
But the only thing he could say afterwards was, "He destroyed the batmobile."

And if anyone even asks him about his opinion that's the only thing he'll say.

The opening scene. Some people don't like superheroes or crime movies. In which case your up ****'s creek. But if they like one or the other, the opening scene is all that is needed.

thats exactly wat i was thinking
that scene and the "better class of criminal" cuz it really shows u how this guy is just plain out crazy(not that any other scene didnt already confirm that lol)

Gotta be the interrogation scene. So well acted...so smartly written!

Depends.... if its for the dude its when The Joker makes his first appearence with the pencil trick will get them in awe saying awsome in no time

For chicks.......Bank Heist

I think the prologue pulls people in pretty well, especially if they're expecting something comic-booky.

My sister was :whatever: over my TDK obsession, but after I watched it I told her she would like Joker's "social experiment." Lil sis is a sociology major who took a class from Philip Zimbardo aka the "Stanford Prison Experiment" dude. She just eats that stuff up.

After she saw it, she said that her favorite part was when the prisoner threw the detonator off of the ferry. So I'm a genius. :hehe:

 Word. The entire theatre at the premier laughed their asses off when that happened.

They kinda did one of those :wow:  :o :woot:

The bank heist. I lets people know who expected something out of a comic book to be the opposite. It helps bring in those people who love crime movies. Just looking at it it doesn't even feel comic bookey at all. Until The Joker does his ***** and then we let them know, "Yeah, this ***** is a comic book movie! Boo-Yah!"

After TDK becoming the second-highest domestic grossing film of all time, the insignificant number of "non-believers" would be the last thing I would give a damn about. :o

I always thought ya know, the trailer does a good job of getting someone hyped :cwink:

Seriously, the first trailer is enough to make anyone crap their pants. And it gives you a better look at the whole movie.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I don't know... The only time I've watched it in company was with my dad and that was in a theatre in summer. Because of that we didn't have the chance to talk much about it and besides he is generally silent when he watches a movie. At the bank heist he murmured something along the lines of "And that for three bags with money?" when the school bus smashed the wall and the Joker killed the driver. Then much, much later, when Batman flipped the Joker's truck, he was like "Now that was cool!". Later, when we walked to the car, he told me he loved the movie and was very pleasantly surprised - he was very reluctant to see it, because of the old movies (B&R, I'd wager) and he never saw BB.

I would say the best scenes in the movie and the ones that really stand out as something much more than a "comic book movie" are the interrogation + the death of Rachel and the few following scenes (Harvey in the hospital, etc) and the final scene where Harvey tells Gordon to lie to his son that everything would be fine, that to be is amazing film making and always stands out to me.

If you want to get people to watch Dark Knight you show them the scene where Joker has the fake batman held up. Its kind of funny, yet deeply disturbing and I believe is Heath's best verbally acted scene. I think that scene even more than the Mob meeting scene is classic Joker. The laugh at the end just seals the deal and tells you everything you need to know about Heath's Joker.
