Which was better, Batman v Superman or Fantastic Four (2015)?

While BvS wasn't good, imo, it still had some good moments. I had fun watching Batman beat up criminals, Batman looked great, I liked seeing the Trinity on screen at least (even thought it wasn't the magical moment it should have been).

Fantastic Four had none of this. Even at the beginning, when it was halfway decent, it was still boring as snot. Had zero life. There is almost nothing I enjoyed about F4. Plus, the Fantastic Four are even less deserving of such a dark tone than Batman and Superman are.

Both movies greatly disregard -to varying degrees- how characters are present in their respective source material, so both were painful to watch on that front, but besides Reed being kind of a *****e at times (he probably had that in comics anyway, long lasting source material tends to give characters *****ey moments), Sue not smiling most of the film, Johnny being a jerk to his dad, and Ben not being the strong guy before morphing to rocks, I did not hate the characters.

Batman V Superman is a bigger offender on that front, cause unlike Josh Trunk who -apparently- confessed to not knowing about the comics, and got what he knew of the characters from online encyclopedia, Zack Snyder embraces the idea of being a comic book guy, he was asked in an interview for Sucker Punch (the poster of that movie behind him when he said that) who is his favorite superhero, Zack replied "Superman". When asked in one comic con who would win in the battle between the big two he replied "C'mon, I love Batman, but c'mon". And then characters in his movie tragically suck.

For characters presentation alone I will vote for Fant4stic.

There's a lot of truth in that. For a guy who claims to like Superman, Snyder gives him a pretty awful time in B v S, while Batman comes off comparatively lightly - and Batman really, really kicks Superman's ass, I mean Miller made Superman look more convincingly tough in the Dark Knight Returns.

Back in 2013 I struggled to see things from the point of view of those who said Man of Steel was humourless and joyless, but with B v S I can't help but agree -the film has no sense of joy at all.

The Fantastic Four film is nowhere near as bad as critics make out - it's bad but not that bad, although the fact that it's like 2 different movies stapled together doesn't help.

B v S is the bigger disappointment because it carried bigger hype - and Snyder doesn't seem to know where he went wrong. I've been trying to work up the stomach to see B v S a second time......but haven't been able to yet.

So, I'm going to say that while B v S is a better film, it's a much more disappointing film because my expectations were so much higher going in.

I honestly liked a lot of the groundwork they were doing in FF leading up to them getting powers. After that I liked the idea of where they were going but it never worked. With a BvSI didn't even like the idea of where they were going

Its a tough one. I would actually say Fantastic Four is better. *Not* because its a superior movie, far from it. However, BvS's superiority at things like production quality and acting are actually *bad*, because they make it more likely BvS will have negative influences on future movies. FF, because its so obviously terrible, is unlikely to inspire any trends.

This is a really really tough question. I'm leaning towards BvS. At the moment if I had to re-watch one it'd be that, but I might change my mind after one more viewing.

LOL, that's a more accurate title than the one the move actually had. :cwink:

Anyway, I'd say F4 was the crappier movie because it just bored the living sh** out of me. On the other hand though, I care a lot more about Batman and Superman and BvS left me feeling like I had just watched someone curbstomp a dog, so... maybe it was actually worse. I don't know.

Wow, who'd have thought we'd see the day where comparing these two was actually not so outrageous.

Fant4stic is the worst movie of all-time. Should not exist. BvS has my vote.

The world is upside down.

BvS was at least a professional film. Fant4stic looks like something a high school film student would do.

Cheers.

BvS. With F4, I didn't want to see anything else from the series or director. While watching BvS, I found myself wishing this were a 4-hour movie so that all the elements, both JL and Batman/Superman, had plenty of breathing room. I judge a good film or script as one that leaves me satisfied or wanting more. A bad one, I'm all too ready for it to be over and done.

Disclaimer: I haven't read the comics for F4 or any Superman comics, so I can only really judge the Batman side of BvS in terms of comic accuracy.

How is this even close? F4 wasn't even a finished movie.

I might have to vote for F4 solely because it was shorter.

I'd consider Repo Man which looks like a legit high school film to be better than Avatar which was as professional as it get.

Because the FF forum is no more. If it was still around and link posted there then many would join me in voting for BvS.
