So I had a Brita pitcher that was cracked after falling on the floor by accident, and was looking for a replacement. I'm thinking of getting a Brita 10 cup pitcher, but I see Pur has one that's 11 cups for cheaper.

Bonus points for those who know the quote.

I would get the one with 11 cups just in case you need that little bit extra.

“IT” just had an accident and fell on the floor? Did it get its legs tangled up on the way to the faucet? Too bad you weren’t there to make sure nothing went wrong.

I don't use water filter. Like I just buy a 5 to 10 gallons of water every week.

I just put a junk of charcoal inside the bottle and that's it. It absorbs the bad stuff, you're supposed to clean it once a week with boiling water and let it dry, you can reuse it.

I wrote to apologize for the late night rant and found this?!?!?

So you put a piece of charcoal in the water? Then you boil it and dry it out before putting it back in water again? Am I missing something?

My mother knocked it off and didn't tell me until I noticed there were cracks on the bottom and started to leak.

My dog ate mine. :D
She probably didn’t notice that it was cracked.

I just go to a store that sells reverse osmosis water and get it 5-10 gallons at a time. Probably should invest in my own R/O unit though. Likely cheaper.

I have to keep you on your toes!

Oh, yes... sorry: it has to be ACTIVATED charcoal. The dude works its magic by absorbing chlorine and other substances! If you have the regular BBQ one, put a piece in your fridge to get rid of unwanted smell.

I just have some filter in my refrigerator. The water is cold and it taste fine. I’m a ghetto boy

@MissMarvelous87 is one of a kind. She eats inedible (pineapple) pizza and washes it down with rock water. :wow:

Am I the only one who still drinks tap water?
I drink it if it has T-Dazzle in it. Otherwise, it's Brita or nothing. Saves me buying bottled water.

Anyone crazy enough to use a faucet filter and pour it into a filter pitcher?

So my Brita got here and it looked fine. There was a small chip at the top of the pitcher where you fill the tap water, but nothing major. After a couple of days of use, I noticed small amounts of water in my fridge and assumed it was condensation... until yesterday when we had a sheet of ice in the back of the fridge. So I put a paper towel under my pitcher cause it looked fine, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a crack. Sure enough next morning the towel was wet. Then upon closer inspection my pitcher had a hairline crack on the bottom of it and it was almost parallel to the chip which tells me that it was damaged in shipping and whatever caused the chip also cracked it.

Got a replacement coming and will be sending the damaged one back. So frustrating since this one was delayed because of the winter storm and I've gotten used to using it. I use it for my Keurig and for my reusable water bottle. :(

New Brita is here and it works and appears to be good. No chips or cracks. So yay!

Glad that saga had a happy ending. I'm thinking about some kind of water filter for the kitchen. I have one of those pull out faucets so I don't think I could get a counter top model. My household goes through about 2 cases of water every week (about $50/month) so I'm thinking I should get a good filter.

PS Keep other people away from your filter.....

If you have the money you could get one that filters the water line to your house so it comes out prefiltered.

Yeah. I looked at those. I might do that for my next house as I will probably only be here for a couple more years or something like that. They're good for the shower too, but I've probably been showering in chlorine long enough that what damage is done is done. I might just get one of those under the counter models for the kitchen. I don't know if my daughter will use it because water that you buy in a bottle is better.....:o (of course, she could be out of the house by then...)

Get her a personalized water bottle that is her favorite color and you're good. :p
