Homecoming Who do you want to cast as Mary Jane Watson

If they want eye candy and nothing more, then why not cast that chick from Transformers Age of Extinction the one that played Mark Walhbers daughter. Just dye her hair red and bam MJ. :woot:



I kid, I kid. But seriously, If I had to pick Jane Levy, Karen Gillan from Doctor Who. Or one of my female friends who TOTALLY looks like MJ. Every time I see her I am reminded of Mary Jane, its as if MJ leapt from the comic book pages to real life. I would post pics from her Facebook page but she would KILL me.

Jane Levy and Karen Gillan are great picks for MJ, would be delighted with either of them, or Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
 
Oh how I wish Laura Prepon was just a few years younger. She's fantastic in OITNB and would make a great MJ.

I don't see the resemblance between Emma and Levy that some people like to point lol. I think she would be a great MJ.
 
^I see a slight resemblance, but only that, they have totally different facial features.
 
Okay, a slightly resemblance but not something that should keep Levy away from portraying Mary Jane.
 
^Definitely not, they have totally different mannerisms and voices anyway, not to mention facial expression, a slight resemblance wouldnt mean a thing.
 
Yeah and since some people are saying Emma Stone is going to come back to play Mary Jane it seems that some people don't have a problem with a Mary Jane who looks a lot like Gwen!
 
Emma Stone is never going to play MJ. Those rumors are laughable. As for Levy, I'm not crazy about the resemblance. She's pretty and looks good with red hair, but beyond that I can't picture her as MJ. Seems like more of a TSSM Gwen to me. Maybe Ultimate MJ, but Emma's Gwen was basically a lot like ultimate MJ. I support MEW for the role though.

The thing is, MJ needed to be more like a mature woman and not look like a teenager since Peter will most likely be 23-24 on it's start.

Jane Levy seems to be the one that pleases most fans regarding casting. Gwen was more a cute girl and that's how she is. Emma nailed that aspect and the independent one.I'm pretty sure Levy can create her own take while being different than Emma style.

I don't really care for the character at all but Levy would get me interested because I know she pull a good MJ after watching some of her movies and shows.
 
^ Imo, Levy is basically a cute quirky girl like Emma Stone judging from her previous roles. Just look at the trailer for Bang Bang Baby. And I also happen to think that she looks and carries herself like she's younger than Stone, not like a more mature older woman.

I think someone mentioned on these boards that they wanted Levy to play a live action Harley Quinn, and in terms of her voice and her presence as an actress, that's a role that I could see really fitting her.

i hope mary elizabeth winstead gets the role. she's mature and i know she has that spitfire mj has.

I do agree at some extent,but for the ones mentioned I think she's the best actress and that bringing a partial comic MJ is possible. You have to think that they aren't full matured adults yet. I don't want Peter to be 23 and MJ 26. If you want a energetic and enthusiastic person to portray her, than Jane is the one to go. And there's the fact that she actually kinda resembles to MJ.

I would be willing to give her a chance because I know how a talented actress she is.
 
^ I just don't think that she has the right type of energy or presence for this particular role. I think that there are better options out there. Same way I felt about Woodley initially (although I have warmed up to her quite a bit). That being said, I'm not opposed to giving her (or any actress for that matter) a chance.
 
So I was just thinking, what if Sony decides that what this franchise needs is "more diversity" and they make MJ latina or asian or something? Could that work?
 
MEW, though she would be an excellent choice, is just too old for the role!

If we were to choose an actress now, they'd have to be in their very early 20s, or have just hit 20, so that by the time that TASM3 is being filmed, Mary Jane would look as if she was indeed in her early twenties, at the same age as Peter Parker would be in the sequel.

Anyone who is in their late twenties now is a big no no I'm afraid.
