Why should you feel sad? I'm hot for you.
Why should you feel sad? I'm hot for you.
Consider:
I don't know ANY real intelligent folk who seek the limelight.
I know plenty who think they are intelligent because they got an "A" in language class,... or they have been told all their lives that they are intelligent,.. so they've bought the hype.
I would think "most" intelligent people don't obsess or call attention to the fact that they are head and shoulders above the common folk, and instead would rather not give up the advantage of being considered "just plain folks."
Are there intelligent braggarts? No doubt. Do I believe the ones smarter than they are have Nothing to say on the subject?
Yup.

Have you ever posted in a manner that screams, "I'm smarter than you. I know what I'm talking about. You don't, because you're an idiot! I'm right, you're wrong and that's all there is to it!"? I don't think I've seen you debate that way.I think the last time someone used me and the word humble, the word "not" preceded it.![]()

Well you can still be full of yourself, in terms of how you speak such as being condescending or sarcastic without resulting into childlike insults or tantrums.Have you ever posted in a manner that screams, "I'm smarter than you. , they do it when necessary. It makes the Hype a good place when they're logged in. Even if they are invisible
Mister J is extremely intelligent too. His posts in the sports threads are worthwhile, and he's damn funny too, in a subtle way as well.
These three posters make the Hype worth visiting.

Like I said, I admire intelligent posters. When I read their posts and I see substance and I see how they back up their opinions with sound arguments, I'm impressed. Sarcasm... that is an art. Some are good at it, some are not (but think that they are). I can't stand it when people use the "eyerolling" icon to show sarcasm. That seems childish to me. Those who are really good at it, express it in the tone of their words and no eyerolling icon is necessary.Well you can still be full of yourself, in terms of how you speak such as being condescending or sarcastic without resulting into childlike insults or tantrums.

anadotal evidence is normally frowned upon, but it does mesh with my experience aswell. there might be connections between intellectual facalties and personality anyway.
This appears to be the case my entire life. You'll notice that the extremely rich and powerful who got there outside of the public view prefer privacy above everything else and rarely step up into the light unless they have no choice (as in the alternative is worse.).
No doubt.
Besides,.. such is only frowned upon IMHO because it removes the wiggle-room,
Not because it could be inaccurate or based on too small a slice of observation.

I feel this is true in all facets of life. A willingness to share and discuss like Jagg pointed out is one thing - they usually don't talk down as they converse unless the premise is "stupid",.... at the same time they don't draw too much attention to their knowledge.
On the other hand there are folk who will tell you straight out that something is wrong with you simply because you are outside their experience,... these same think they are "more intelligent than others" because they have an opinion.
Meh.
In this case,... I just think that any who are at that level would not want that fact broadcast on the board. Leads to flame wars as folk with preconcieved notions try to disprove the premise/thought that the person has it going on upstairs.
