I disagree.
two points:
1. Even the extremely intelligent have hobbies and interests that they like to share with others.
2. Yet to meet any human who doesn't crave community with like-minded folk.
Peace.

Not necessarily. Think of it like this though, Chris Langan, who I posted a thread about a while ago has 195 IQ. One of his big talking points is that CEO's "are a bunch of dumb guys who think they are smarter than the smart guys", meanwhile his theories are pretty standard, and while well presented, are ultimately not worth the paper they're printed on. He's a bouncer by trade, and profoundly arrogant.
Now, while he's perfectly right to criticize some CEOs and some of this nation's successful, success is ultimately a good indicator of someone's intelligence. Maybe that CEO comes up with a 105 on his IQ test, but you can bet your ass he used every last bit of that 105 to get him where he was. Just like an athlete. Potential can be gauged simply by looking at someone's body structure, but if they spend all day eating hoe-hoes on their couch, that potential isn't worth much. Same principle applies here. They proved a long time ago that the IQ test was bunk, even the creator said that the test wasn't meant to measure intelligence and that the score (contrary to what's reported) could be improved upon until one got a perfect score.
I don't think it's any accident that those who do well on IQ tests deal day to day with theorems and problems as hard or harder than the one's on the test. I did very well on mine, but ironically at College I was taking a very hard Calc class at the same time where the teacher was an absolute a**hole about grading. Did I do well because I was naturally gifted, or was it really because I had homework ten times harder that night. I tend to think the latter.
Since I read that post of jag's, I've got that song stuck in my head!Paul Simon joke! Points for jag,

We had quiet a few guys at our office/shop who claimed to have high intelligence levels. Some, apparently, who even had near perfect scores on their SATS. Funny thing was many of them, while obviously very good with math and mechanics, were just lazy good for nothings. We've had to fire more than our fair share of them.I work with some people who are of THAT level of intelligence. Their hobbies include working on nearly unsolvable math problems, building and operating ham radios, and trying to develop new computer languages based on philosophical bents they've helped study and devise. They do hang with people of like minds, though, no doubt about it. Granted, not every person of monster levels of intellect is of that particular flavor. They're as diverse as anyone else in their interests. And I know plenty that run their mouths off like nobody's business, so perhaps they ARE here amongst us and just as talkative as anyone else on these boards.

there's no colloration between intelligence and business success as far as i know. i think success in business requires other talents.

How do you define "smart" or "intelligent"? Is someone who is booksmart but not "streetsmart" more intelligent? Is someone who is very successful in life but with only HS education less smart than a person who is struggling in life but with a college degree? Is intelligence measured by our grades at school or the choices that we make?
"Ya Think?"Now we're starting to peel back the subjectivity of the word "intelligence", here. It, ultimately, is going to mean something different to everyone, I'm going to guess.

I think the fact that Stephen Hawkings refuses to take an intelligence test should tell you something about the intelligence test. I think the fact that the creator of the IQ test, Alfred Binet, said that the test was never meant to measure a quantifiable intelligence score, should also say something.IQ tests are only good for the first try at best for that reason, and then they are only testing certain problem solving skills which could have been trained earlier. i would class using what you've got to the best of your ability as one of those other talents i was talking about.
I heard his friends call him "Al".
AH!
Now I see...
This thread is not about who is the smartest
Its about whose nicer to everyone
Who treat people well!
All and all
Its about who is the biggest butt kisser.
I dont have too agree with most of you!
I dont have to like what you like!
In fact I Diamondhead has no need for you at all!
Just like Superman has really no need to team up with the Batman
But from time to time some nitwits from the comics industries
Will go around the rules to make it look like as if

that's the same Edison who put on a show of killing an elephant using a competing electricity system. really i'd have to look into his life more to get a proper impression of if he was a lime light seeker or not tho.

Trust me if you are as smart as you think you are
Then making money will be like drinking a glass of water when you are very thirsty.
"As if???
You okay,... you kind of cut that off in mid thought......?
