Who should be the villain?

I don't want to see Onslaught.

My personal wish list for villains are Spiral, Apocalypse, Ozymandias, Sinister, Omega Red, Bastion, Avalanche and Zaladane.

Hmm that would be fantastical.

I would be down for a lot of different names/concepts for the first movie. Savage Land (maybe Zaladane or Sauron?), Krakoa, Bastion, plenty of others, even. Probably I'd go for either the Savage Land or Krakoa if I had to choose.

But what I'd like to see most is to have the first film open with the classic origin story of the X-men (Xavier vs Amal Farouk in an epic mind battle). Then move on from there, tell a fun, light-hearted story, have the second film focus more on the 'mutant problem' with a noticeably darker tone, and make the third film (or fourth, even, if we're going beyond a trilogy) a loose adaptation of the Muir Island saga with the Shadow King as the major big bad of the overall series who is revealed to have been encouraging the growing hatred all along.

I don't think they'll adapt the Shadow King (well this early) because of Legixn.

I think Marvel Studios' X-Men will be a very comic booky version of the X-Men that plenty of fans have been waiting for. There's going to be these groups shots inspired by the comic books. Its going to be like the Avengers' money group shots but mutants. So I would bet my money on Sentinels or a villain, with a huge army. If the Avengers had Chitauris/Ultron bots for their first two movies, the X-Men would have something similar for their first film.

Apocalypse for a 3rd film will be a re-tell of Prequel Fox saga

Otherwise we can have Bastion(and his sentinels) + Show king entity making an alliance
Sinister in sequel, En Sabah Nur staying in shadow
AvX movie, x-men and avengers' conflict focus on pheonix force: Jean is ressurected and AV see that as a threat while XM want to rescue their former teammate
Apocalypse comes across a Celestial ship and is the big villain of 3rd movie

It wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t tell us who the villain is. They’ll just say something like “meryl Streep has joined the cast in an unnamed role” and then we’ll find out she’s playing the goddess Selene or something

Well they don't do announce the roles for most of their actors, do they? Sentry and Galactus haven't even confirmed by Marvel Studios.

after rewatching some of the animated series, and x-men 97, i'm saying it again, bring on the Friend of Humanity. have them be a group feeding on the fear of the powered beings of the marvelverse, and now you have people being born with these powers? mass hysteria, etc. lead it into the morlock massacre, sinister, bastion, Creed, it could all go and blend to many different ways

using Creed or Stryker in that regard, a nice blend of Friend of Humanity with God Loves, Man Kills might be able to mirror or resemble some current events. if we're going to bring the powers out with the mutants and all, a human villain, who can still get scared masses of people behind him to be a formidable foe, could be a great foil to balance out the first film. then evolve into something like the sentinels and bastion, or go more scientific like the legacy virus/ fake cure and or mutant massacre.

The legacy virus would be so interesting. I think it’s time has passed in terms of relevant storytelling but maybe as a hypothetical threat or like deliberate misinformation (“mutants are spreading disease on purpose and we should defend ourselves” even if it’s not real in the mcu) could be interesting. Quite heavy to start with I guess

they could modernize it or like you said, use it as propaganda against mutants. i feel like it will have it's best punch at least a movie or 2 in where a character we've grown to like comes down with it and either passes, or they race for a cure. maybe make a deal with the devil (essex/sinister, depends on if we know he's a villain yet) to get a cure etc

Yeah that’s the only way I could see it working honestly, as like a Covid metaphor. But by the time the films come out no one will want to talk about that time again
