Wait a second...Paul wants to quarentine gays? Did I read that right? He, like, wants to round up all the gay people in this country and force them into one single area?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk."

As a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in 1992, Huckabee answered 229 questions submitted to him by The Associated Press. Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies.

Huckabee said Saturday that his comments came at a time when "the AIDS crisis was just that — a crisis. We didn't know exactly all the details of how extensive it was going to be. There was just a real panic in this country. If I were making those same comments today, I might make them a little differently."

In 1992, Huckabee wrote, "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague."

"It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS. It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."

See - Congrats to Spider-Bite whose shotty research have hurt the reputation of a good man

How is forcing a person to live in slavery a libertarian position? Shouldn't a libertarian believe that the would be slave should have control over their own life?

The truth is that Abraham Lincoln is quite possibly the best president we ever had. And criticizing his biggest accomplishment while running for president has got to be a symptom of stupidity, as that would not fly well with voters and any presidential hopeful with common sense would know better.

Also Ron Paul opposes all hate crime legislation and voted to ban gay adoptions in Washington DC. He is also opposed to ending the don't ask, don't tell policy in the military. The only reason he voted against a consitutional ammendmant to ban gay marriage is becuase he thinks the govenrment shouldn't have anything to do with marriage in any form. He doesn't even support marriage liscenses or marriage tax benefits. On the marriage issue he is libetarian, even though I disagree with him. I think marriage in both forms should be promoted, because I think family values are very healthy for society.

That because he thought that the slavery issue could've been solved without going to war. and any r-tard knows that the Civil War was fought to keep the Union intact.

Hate Crime = Thought Crime. How can you prove what someone was thinking when they commited any offense? A Crime is a crime.

Thats what I said in my political science class and some students giggled like a bunch of idiots.

But it is true. It is a form of unbridled Political Correctness run amok. How can you know what someone is thinking when a crime is commited? Why aren't Black on White Muggings considered a Hatecrime? Why isn't the Jenna 6 thing considered a Hate crime. It is only applied to situations to make other people think that the government is on the side of the Minority. Hate Crimes exists only to serve the purpose of Thought discrimination.

Huckabee is looking good on the Tonight Show. This is the first time I've actually seen the guy but he is coming off pretty good. The show just came back from break and he was playing bass guitar with the band, he may be trying to pull a Clinton.

He's been playing Bass Guitar for many years and is in a Jazz Band. He's not pulling a "Clinton", just because he's playing an instument.

I should have explained it a little better, for people who don't really follow politics something like that can really help, it shows a more human side to the canidate if that makes sense. I didn't get to hear everything he had to say though, the strep throat is kicking my ass at the moment.

i used to think huckabee made a decent candidate, but he' really playing up his christian roots and that's a complete turn off for me after 8 years of extreme-right jesus huggers in office. that commercial he made about explicitly saying "merry christmas" instead of "happy holidays" sealed the deal for me. :down

romney's a slimey, opportunistic creep.

mccain's a sellout.

paul's saying a lot of good things but has 0% of winning the nomination.

giuliani's a lying fascist hiding behind 9/11.

thompson's campaign and chances of winning the nomination are both non-existent.

So, the reason you no longer support Huckabee is because he is a Christian? So, the only reason you are not supporting him is his religous beliefs. Way to be tolerant.

i haven't been following the race closely, but of all the Republican cadidates Ron Paul is the only one that doesn't come off as a prick imo. i might not agree with some of his views but he's definitely the most level-headed, well-rounded of the bunch. the rest can eat a nut for all i care, especially Giuliani...

...however, regardless of the majority vote, Ron Paul will never win. his ideals are too honest and trustworthy for today's Republican party.

I agree with everything you've said about the above canidates, my only issue is that the underlined statement is like almost everyones opinion on Dr. Paul. If everyone that said I like him but he won't win actually votes for him, he should win by a landslide.

QFT

That bugs me. Vote for who you like, not who will win. It's like me being a Giants fan saying, "Well, the Giants won't win the superbowl, so I'm rooting for the Patriots." :(

Besides, even if he doesn't win, if he gets a lot of votes, it will show the Republican party that there are still true conservatives out there, and not all republicans are extreme right wing christian fascists.

Precisely, can I get an amen? (Oops, that was not meant to be religious, lol)

Apparently it is ok to be tolorent of other peoples beliefs, as long as they are not christian.

You know, not to put words in Sinewave's mouth, but I'm guessing he is put off by a public official, one who wants the nation's highest office, wearing his religion on his sleeve in a nation that supposedly seperates church and state. I think that is what he is getting at and not "I hate him because he is Christian!"
