Good question!

I'd love to see that original photo, it's rather incredible.
I thought I had it, now I can't find it. There's just too much crap on my computer. :cmad:

If I find it, I'll post it. :O

Seriously, I wouldn't have any problem with Paul Walker....the guy has already done macho movies (Fast and the Furious) and been through WWII (Flags of our Fathers). Its hilarious that people here think John FRIGGIN Cena would be a better Cap than Walker. Don't get me wrong, when I used to watch WWE, Cena was my favorite superstar, but I don't think he's that great of an actor.

If they're going for an unknown, then I would suggest Eion Baily.

If they're going for a more profilic actor, then Matt Damon would work.

I like ,Matt but he is a bit of a school boy kind of guy. He would be perfect for the young CAP the soldier not the leader.

Agree 100%

If we're going for an origin story, Cap needs to be pretty young. Mid-twenties to early-thirties might be around the right age for the role--young enough to play recruit Rogers and old enough to play mature Captain America.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead, Zodiac, The Day After Tomorrow) (26 years old)
Amazing young actor who's expressed interest in superhero roles before. He's 6'0, ripped, and he has a heroic air about him. I think he'd be a fantastic Captain America.

Jared Padalecki (Supernatural, House of Wax, Cry Wolf) (25 years old)
He's got the look, and he's not a bad actor, from what I've seen. Although, admittedly, I haven't seen much of his stuff. I think he could handle the role. Plus, the dude's about 6'4. So, he's got the height down, at least.

Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson, The Notebook, Fracture) (26 years old)
One of the best young actors working right now. His performance in Half Nelson was compared to De Niro and Brando. He's tall enough, has the blond All-American look, and is the best actor out there in the age range. One problem, though, is that he was born in Canada. As far as I'm concerned, though, that shouldn't be a problem.

Ryan Reynolds (The Nines, Blade Trinity, Smokin' Aces) (30 years old)
Great young actor. Tall with an insanely muscular build. He can play young and innocent was well as hardened and tough. One of the best for the role, in my opinion.

Michael Muhney (Veronica Mars, Disconnect, Angst) (31 years old)
This guy's pretty unknown. I really only know him from his work in Veronica Mars. But, he did a great job on that show, crafting a bastard of a character that had a touch of humanity to him. He could turn it around into playing a good guy, I'm sure. And, he looks right for the part.

James Van Der Beek (The Rules of Attraction, Dawson's Creek, Texas Rangers) (30 years old)
Admittedly, not my favorite actor, but he's a good one, and he has that all-American look Cap needs. And, let's be honest, Van Der Beek needs a big role, and he'd work hard to make his performance great.

^ NO to all of them. Cap is too big of a character so he needs to be played by an unknown.

I remember the pre-Superman Returns discussions. Cast an unknown. Cast an unknown. Then, people got mad when Routh was cast because they had never heard of him.

I say, regardless of fame, cast the best actor for the part. The end.

Routh was perfect in my opinion. Here's how I look at it. For well known characters, they should be played by lesser known actors and vice versa for lesser known characters played by a big star. It's been done for almost all these comic book movies so far and it has proven to work.

I do agree that they should cast the best actor whether they're famous or not but the actors you choose dont scream Captain America to me. But thats just me.

Eck god no, he can't act :down
no wrestlers, please god, no wrestlers.

Anyone here ever seen Band of Brothers? I always thought Cap would be like Damian Lewis' portrayal of Dick Winters. The problem is Lewis is way too old for the part. Cap was nineteen in '41 so twenty-four when he was frozen. But someone who evokes Lewis' stoic leader who you'd follow into hell if he led the way type without being too old. However, not only is Lewis too old he's at least semi recognizable. Cap needs to be like Christopher Reeve was for Superman. He needs to be Captain America, not an actor playing Captain America. I would go with an unknown, but he'd also need to be talented enough to carry the film.

John Cena? Oh please God, no!

Cole Hauser (The Cave, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Harts War, Tigerland, Pitch Black, Good Will Hunting

Casting Cap is going to be the most challenging piece of casting Marvel will do. It's got to be as right as casting Chris Reeve as Superman was. I really can't think of anyone well known.
It's going to be something special when they make tha announcment.

What about Matthew Bomer

He was a candidate for Superman awhile back. I don't know how good he'd look with blonde hair.

If you can recognize the guy playing Cap, it's the wrong choice.

Jane isn't exactly a widely recognizeable star. He's popular with fanboys and in the comic/sci-fi community but that's about it. He hasn't risen to the A-List yet. I recognized Christian Bale and Eric Bana and had no problem with them. I recognized Michael Keaton in Batman, and Hugh Jackman in X-Men. I also recognize Ed Norton and Robert Downey Jr too. :)
