Who Would you cast as Captain America?

I think he could do it.

Honestly - I weigh it up and I think he's perfect. He's got all the attributes needed for Cap imo.

-He's no stranger to the gym so Cap's perfect physique ain't exactly out of reach - he'd train is ass off to get the physique befitting Cap. Even Bale was impressed at how much muscle McConaughey had piled on when they met up for 'Reign of Fire'.

-He's a good actor (as someone said before - I don't think he'sd have a problem changing his accent) and a big enough name to get bums on seats (but not too big of a name that it would overshadow the movie).

-He's can handle action (as seen in 'Sahara' and 'Reign of Fire').

-He's blonde and has the whole 'chiseled jaw' thing going on.

-I might actually be able to drag my girlfriend to a Captain America movie if he's in in. :whatever:

I know that some folk on here will be all too quick to scoff at the suggestion but in my mind it's not as outlandish as they might think.

He would need to spend about 6-12 months bulking up but he could do it.

That's the beauty of it - most other actors would need to devote that much time into acheiving the necessary build but MM would only need about 5 months tops given the base he's already got and the obvious good genetics he's been blessed with.

We wouldnt have to wait a year or so for him to get into 'Cap' shape.

Isn't MM in good shape already? You'd want him bigger then he is in those last three pictures? Damn, I hope he doesn't get the part, I hate his mannerisms and the way he talks and his voice. Saw him on Oprah once(it just happened to be on, okay?) and he was really annoying.

Just take 20th Century Fox off there. Black it out. :) Then change it to July 4th Weekend 2010.

He's cut but I think he needs a bit more size.

it would be interesting, good choice, not sure if he would jump in on this one

If he was a bit younger, I'd say Neil McDonough. I mean hell, he already played the all-American WWII soldier type in Band of Brothers.

I don't like Matthew M. for the role. Personally, I'd want Cap to be a little younger and a little less known of an actor..

I used to agree Damon would be good but after watching Ocean's 11 last night with him standing next to Brad Pitt and everyone else in the cast...he looked small. Real small.

That's because he is 5' 10" and Brad Pitt 5' 11½"(imdb.com). Neither of them should be Cap. JasonLewisdammit.

So it's Jason Lewis vs Matt Mcconaughey?

I pick Matt. 6'0'', athletic, he's not gonna be drowned by RDJ or Ed Norton in Avengers movie as Cap is certainly the main man in an Avengers movie. What he needs to do is to lose that Texas accent and acquire a New York Irish accent. He's an Irish so that's a start.

As for Jason Lewis, can he be Thor? I mean in an actors lineup that's shortened by around 3"-4" tall, he should be fine as Thor.

Some of the suggestions in this thread are ridiculously off target I think.

Each of us probably has at least one well-known actor we would like, but that a lot of others would hate.

Thus, safest bet all round is to go with an unknown (like they did with Superman Returns).

Can I offer my complete resistance to both the Hobbit Matt Damon and the untalented Jason Lewis?

I mean, seriously, come on...........

Do you offer resistance to Matt McConaughey (6 feet, athletic, chiseled body albeit more streamlined)?

Jason Lewis is 6' 1", not as buff as McConaughey, but that's not a problem. He may not have as much acting talent, but I think he's okay actor. He could pull of Cap - with good director. Lewis' biggest role so far was in Sex and The City, and he was fine in that.
