With the news that DC is pushing forward with a Jonah Hex movie, it is only natural that this thread should exist.
One of my favorite choices would be Viggo Mortensen. IMO He's got what it takes. I think he could pull it off very well.
What do you guys think?

If he were in his 20s or 30s, hands down Clint Eastwood. But I can see Viggo. If not him though, Tom Jane. He loves westerns and even played a Hex type character in a video game. He said he loved it. Hugh Jackman also looks like Hex, but that ain't happening.

Yes and AMEN on the Eastwood!!! It would be hard to sell me on Jane. I know The Punisher and Hex are two totally different types o' characters but he just didn't come off as Frank Castle to me and though those two characters are of different flavor they are of the same callibur. No comment on the Van Hel . . . I mean Hugh Jackmen deal.

Viggo's fine with me. Sean Bean or Michael Wincott could work too.

I can kind of see where you didn't go on the Jackman thing. I just put his name in the hat because on the covers of the current series it kinda looks like hugh, except with the scars. I picked Jane because of the voice, plus I can see him as a western vigilante. He was good as punisher, but it was the movie to me. He spent most of the time whining and ploting instead of acting, then he becomes Punisher at the end. That's how he should have been for the first 15 to 20 minutes in the movie after his family died.

I'll agree with that. And even though the movie was really bad, Dolph Lundgren just made a better Frank Castle IMO.

yeah, Lundgren was good. I like Nash and all, but it would've been awesome to see Lundgren as the russian.

I'm not sure why, but the first one that comes to my mind is William Fichtner.

I can see him in the role. I can imagine the scars right now.

Guy Pearce who IMO is a superior actor to Viggo (not saying that Viggo is bad). Ever since watching The Proposition and reading the current Hex series by Gray and Palmiotti he's the dude I see in the role. I'm so glad they're considering a Hex movie I really am, I never thought it'd even be possible at one point.

Nathan Fillion or Adam Baldwin. End of story.

I'm down with Viggo or Tom Jane. I always imagined Colin Farrell though
