O.K this movie was sopposed to be the most expensive movie of all time, at the time of it's release, but i don't understand why sssssoooo many ppl hate it.

I for one, can watch very few movies, over and over again...but this movie is one i can watch without ever getting bored. So what if it has Kevin Costner in it..

..is it just a guilty pleasure of mine, or do others agree with me that it's a classic along the lines with movies like Mad Max...?

I love this piece of crap too. I lolled heartily when I read some comments on it and someone said something about why the sub mariner ripoff guy can't just use his make-shift water filter on the tons of ocean around him instead of his urine... piece of crap movie is a masterpiece.

I want to see the director`s cut

Yeah, some of the **** is implausible like the urine thing, or the fact that (and i researched this)- if all the polar caps did indeed melt, there'd be enough dilution to dilute the salt water thus maiking it drinkable (which i have a hard time believing)............but it's still a great synopisis..and a guilty pleasure of mine.

If there was ever an aquaman movie, I guess it'd be something like this.

This movie got some OK reviews.
It wasn't a terrible movie, but I didn't like it at all.

It's ok just not particularly good. The cost is one of the reasons it gets trashed more than it otherwise would.

I think some of the derision came from the fact that it cost so much and was seen as a vanity project for Costner who was BO gold at the time
I think certain ppl revelled in the fact it could never make any money and that it would bring it's star down a peg or two.......Personally Ive always found the movie a lot of fun with some great set pieces and a hilariously OTT performance from Hopper

I thought it was just a flat out bore-fest. I was not interested in the story at all when I watched it just a year ago for the first time.

I liked Waterworld...I think it ended a little quick...its a fun movie tho. I saw it in the theaters when I was younger. Now...Postman...thats a Costner post-apocalypse movie that you need to hate on. Cuz that movie sucked.

I've liked what it spawned at Universal Studios Hollywood and Japan. The stunt show is pretty great! One of my long time favorite staples.

The game for SNES was flat out awful, but other than that it was a decent Sci-Fi film that goes underrated.

I still have a copy of the SNES game. I'll try it out later on the old SNES. lol

All I can remember was being in that boat and going around the water in one big circle and nothing beyond it.

I used to wonder the same thing. Until I saw it one night on cable. Maybe it was because of all the commercials, they turned an already too long movie into a four hour event. Watching Kevin Costner in the middle of an ocean for four hours isn't 'fun.' Maybe I'd change my mind if I rented it or something but man... it got real boring on cable. I'll need to see it one more time, on dvd, before I pass final judgement. As of now... I give it a 5 out of 10.

its like Star wars.... but on water... and with bums.

Wait.... I'm having a vision... it's Star Wars... Star Wars on water... Star Wars on water with bums!!! I love it!!!

Sheesh, no wonder it lost a gazillion dollars.

to a kid this movie's great, I bet. I remember seeing Lost in space on a cruise ship when I was a lad. Great enjoyable experience. i don't know why that film never got a sequel. good lawd. the daughter was hot.

I always thought it was OK. Average, but entertaining. Better than Mad Max, which is just don't get.

I liked Waterworld alright, not the best movie obviously, but very entertaining I thought. Never played the SNES video game, but I did play the Waterworld pinball quite a few times during that year.

I don't think it's any worse than many other extremely expensive movies, like Spider-Man 3. Heck, I'd probably prefer Waterworld to that one, because it didn't disappoint me the way SM 3 did.

If Waterworld didn't disappoint you, your expectations must have really low.

Waterworld sure let me down. All that money and potential, and the end result is a pretty basic run-around at sea with some cartoon villains. If it had been made in 2007, it would have far more mythology and back story to the characters. And probably awesome CGI scenes of the world being flooded.
