This has been bothering me for a while now,Why do people constantly rent and flock to the theater to watch chessy horror movies/remakes? It's the smae thing over and over again, girl gets chased by psycho who is trying to killer, or it's someone who possessed by the devil,it just a rehash of a pervious movie, why do you waste your time watching and renting this garbage?

They're fun.

Well, some

of

them are.

I lost interest after a while... scream was the last one I loved... then they got pretty gay to me... I just never watched any after that... not saying there weren't any that were good... just lost interest in seeing em...

Two words: guilty pleasure...
Its just funny, predictable, and again...funny. If you want to have a good time with ur friends or cousins when they come over..pop in a predictable horror movie and youll be laughing the whole time

Yeah, I don't like horror films either, I don't get the whole genre. Suspense films, yeah those are enjoyable, but the scary/horror films to me aren't scarry which makes you wonder why their called scary or horry movies and they are usually terrible. Bad acting, bad effects, bad plot, bad everything.

I watch them because I'm curious, wanna see if they're ever gonna suceed being funny, Scary movie 1 & 2 were great, only because the Wayans Bros were in it, now they suck...

The same crap over and over can apply to any genre, it's hardly specific to horror. You can find tons of dramas, action movies, comedies... that are interchangeable, and "garbage" as it pertains to movies is very subjective.

I'd rather watch a generic slasher flick than the tedious, drawn out sappy melodramatic crap that typically gets nomineed for best picture year in, year out.

Atleast horror movies without depth are straightforward about it instead of wasting about 3 hours telling a story that hasn't achieved any more than they did in 80 minutes.

The only reason I saw 3 and will see 4 is b/c of Leslie Nielsen. The man is the greatest comedic actor ever. The first 2 sucked, the whole idea of them was "let's be as disgusting and over-the-top as possible"

Because I love them. And I enjoy creative death sequences and stuff. And they're not garbage!!! Well, atleast not all of them.:down

I feel no guilt in watching a movie that uses various methods of special effects to end the life of a ficticious character.

It's just fun

Couldn't have said it better. but there only so much sappy romantic stuff one person can take. Horror movies are just good fun. Like Stormy said i rather watch a horror movie over must of the stuff that gets nominated for best picture.

I don't. At least, not the hack and slash type. Gore does not equal scary.

I watch them because I wait to be scared.
Unfortunately, 95% of horror movies are not scary and are extremely gory.
Movies that include Freddy Krueger are not scary, but actually funny.
The ONLY scary movies that are scary are supernatural movies.
The Exorcist is the only movie that scares me. I used to be afraid of Hellraiser when I was little, but it is stupid now.

I'll only watch horror movies just to see them and have fun with friends.

Why is no one mocking the two people who thought the thread was about Scary Movie 1, 2, 3, and 4?

Ture.

Even if he did star in 2001: A Space Travesty.

People go watch horror movies for the same reason they ride roller coasters. You should be able to piece it together.

I usually like thrillers and dramas the best and of course Independent films and every once in awhile some mindless action movie since I'm into home theater. The last thriller that really freaked me out was The Sixth Sense,do you people forget this was actually nominated for best picture? Horror films can be done well, but 99.9% of them suck. But that's all I see in the video store now,Stupid horror movies and unfunny comedies.Hollywood needs to make more films like Dead Man Walking,Closer and Casablanca, but if they did people wouldn't apprecheate (however it's spelt) them as much.

Man, I was hoping i'd be the first to point that out. I found that rather funny.

Never got horror movies myself, they're just never scary and their so, unbelievably predictable. Oh no! the killer's chasing you and your car wont start!?! What a surprise!!

Because I'm sick and demented

But a lot of them are super funny, I laughed watching Hostel and some of the Saw movies. There's times you want to look away but, ha ya don't.

That's the genre I read as well and fantasy.
