Comics Why can't Spidey become someone important? *SI #8 Spoilers*

DD only found Spidey annoying because of the way Guggenheim portrays Spidey. Guggenheim's spidey is extremely annoying even to the reader.

Even Bendis wrote DD as someone who was really close to Spidey. So much so he joked with him in those new avenger issues.

But your right....Guggenheim writes Spidey as being "annoying."

Dan Slott gets the quips right though.

My guys is that they think that spidey gets enough spotlight as it is, they don't want him hogging glory from the other heroes. If spider-man weren't as popular, he'd probably play a bigger part in some of these. Maybe that's fractured logic...but you kind of understand what I'm saying I hope.

Ah yes. After the "ambush" and during the party...(was it a party?)

I mean I have no problem with other heroes's holding their own against other heroes.
But I guess what bothers me the most is how Spidey is a bit of this "annoying loser" to him. Spidey was the same guy that taught him something about the superhero game.

I don't think Spidey should be at the top. But he should be respected better than he is currently.

Even in the DD issue of Brand New Day....Daredevil was finding Spidey a bit annoying. Aren't they supposed to be close friends?

It was good to see Spidey handling all of the thunderbolts on his own in NWTD.

Agreed.

Another great example was the original Secret Wars. The focus on that story was really Captain America, Reed Richards, and Dr. Doom, yet Spider-Man had many great moments to shine throughout.

In SI, he didnt really even have any dialogue. None that i can remember, anyway.

I'd hate to see Norman become a major Marvel villain, culminating in a big multi-issue "event", and then just have Spider-man be a bit player in it...

The Dark Illuminati will be another great opportunity for Spidey and the FF to work together. Spidey's always been intimidated and let's face it --- scared of Doom. Somewhere along the way towards the endgame, you can count on the FF to clear Doom out of the way so Spidey can make the Coup De Grace.

Screw Osbourne. How did a schizo become the leader of Homeland Security?

:ff: :ff: :ff:

That would be great. The FF seem to be out of the loop lately, with OTHER heroes dealing with FF rogues (Annihilus, Doom, Skrulls)...

i think you can thank the skrulls for that

Like how a lot of people been saying that is should be SPidey that takes Osborn down when all the dust is settled, i agree, but i think it would come down to Spidey doing that, but maybe someone else getting the credit, and as always, Spidey being ignored for his heroic deed.

A private showdown amid a complete destructive battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in the Avengers Tower would be immense.

Epic, even. And fitting to their characters. It's just a shame Osborn knows...but at the same time doesn't know...who Spidey *really* is.

I like how you used the emoticons incase we forgot who you were talking about. I really wish this board would do away with those things.
Jesus your like a bad woman thats constantly on her period. Miken take that stick out of your ass and stop *****ing about the stupidest things.

I wouldn't mind that..

After thinking about it, I agree. Spider-Man would have to lead a team to take down Osborn, he knows him the best! It's logic. That could be potentially one of the coolest stories...Spider-Man finally gets a leader position and picks a team to take down Osborn's new team of villains at the end of SI #8

God, can you go one thread without actling like a condescending ass?:csad:

....

Anyway, I'm one of the few people who's glad Norman came back. He rocked in Spider-Man #75, Spec. Spider-Man# 250, Marvel Knights, but most of all Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts. I haven't read Secret Invasion yet, but I like the fact that one of the greatest villains of the MU and someone who wants nothing more than to crush Spidey is one of the most powerful men in the United States (even if it does remind me a little of Lex Luthor's brief stint as President in the Superman books).

Actually you care enough about what I said to put so much significiance in a comment I made then forgot about the second I got off the puter.

You enjoy getting under peoples' skin with incendiary comments that are always aimed at bringing your fellow posters down. You hardly ever have positive input. More than half of your posts seem to contain some bitter and unwarranted slight against another poster. It's apparent your only goal on this board is to work up otherwise friendly posters so much that they're dragged to your level. I wouldn't attack Captain Stacy, seeing as he has the patience of a saint for not banning you long ago. But you will anyway. Again and again.

Considering you jumped into the thread and started dishing out un-provoked insults (as usual), why don't we ask him? :yay:

It wasn't an unprovoked insult. It's been an ongoing discussion here as to whether to get rid of smilies or not. I was just speaking out against the smilies.

I'd hate to see Norman become a major Marvel villain, culminating in a big multi-issue "event", and then just have Spider-man be a bit player in it...

Yes, that would definitely be wrong!

Whether or not Spidey leads a group of heroes or goes solo, that final battle between Spidey & GG better be mano e mano (sorry if I screwed up that phrase)

And I too was happy with Norman's return, and by in large enjoyed what they have done with the character (excluding Sins of the Past, of course!).

Yeah...I really don't dig it when they use Spidey *or in that matter any popular character* to advertise and pull unsuspecting readers into something.

That shows your story is pretty weak to begin with. Not always the case though, definitely. However,

The ASM: SI was a pretty good example of such a situation...:csad:

I really want Marvel to return to the days where Spidey uses his brain to fight as well. Something we haven't seen in quite a while. Well except for when he threw the tracking device onto Bulls eye. that was pretty cool.

Brain!? Spider-Man has one!? Oh you mean that thing that's been gathering dust since Opertation: Screw Spidey Until A Retcon Is Welcomed With Open Arms began... At least you didn't say using his head cause the Q would've given us an Amazing Spidey with more headbutting action...

Posted this in another thread but it felt relevant here. There's actually a great deal of connection with the evil illuminiti and Spider-Man though most of it is unknown to the people at the moment.

I know I'm giving bendis far far too much credit before writing this but the dynamic is interesting between these characters once their history is displayed.

I'll start with the hood. I haven't liked what bendis did to him till the NA issue where it shows he's being powered by Dormammu. That's your actual villian for Dark Reign, he would make his move soon enough when all the pieces are assembled.

Osborn is obviously osborn and I'd expect him to do very well as his bag has always been in manipulating others. His main opponent being spider-man who interestingly enough was mystically linked to Doctor Strange as the two that would fight (and have before) Dormammu and Doctor Doom and stop the destruction of the universe.

Doom. Doom would play second fiddle here at first. Think about it. There's this new world order with plenty of potential, Osborn came out on top in SI and the smart move would be to appear subserviant to Osborn till the opportunity for the most gain presents itself. Doom's done this before, he'd do it again. That said he has been a real lackey to Dormammu in the past and when he finds out he's involved that might change his plans directly. Doom also has a conspiracy going with Loki which has not been revealed yet. My guess, Loki and Doom are waiting for their moment, but that would change when they find out who's the real big dog here. He's also linked indirectly to osborn in that both have spider-man as a major component to osborn's countless defeats, and doom's big mystical power play.

Loki, as mentioned, has the plan with doom probably ending with loki in control of asgard and doom in control of earth. Loki is also linked as someone sympathetic to Spider-Man and owing him a favor. What should be really interesting is what happens when he finds out about Dormammu. Dormammu made loki his ***** (rightfully so) and loki needed to team with the avengers to stop him before. Loki hates Dormammu with a passion.

Namor and Emma, I don't know at all. (I know the characters but wtf?)

Again I'm giving too much credit to bendis for even thinking this level of dynamics would play into dark reign, but still wanted to share the interesting though unknown dynamic that ties them.

Good point about the bad blood between Loki and Dormammu...i had forgotten about that. (which is odd, because the Avengers/Defenders war is one of my all time favorite stories)...

Not sure about Emma either (Bendis recently told Newsarama that he wanted Magneto, but that character wasnt available, or something), however, i believe Doom and Namor have now forged an alliance in Namor's recent mini series...
