Ok, so Enter the Matrix sucked, I hear Path Of Neo was just as bad, and same goes for Matrix Online (I dont know a single person who actually plays it). Why is it so hard to make a good video game based off of the Matrix? It seems like it would be the perfect movie to adapt, as it's full of action, and cool powers you could use. Hell, just make a game set in that universe, where you play as one of the previous "ones" before Neo. That way you get all the powers without having to follow the movie storyline. Make it a free roam game, first few missions are learning your powers, then you can level them up ala Crackdown as you go along. It just pisses me off that they f**ked the entire series over for video games with 3 s**ty ones in a row, and now chances are they'll never even try again.

I thought thats kind of what the Matrix Online was supposed to be like. I don't think that game got horrible reviews, I know Enter the Matrix did. I only played Enter the Matrix, never tried Path of Neo.

I had a friend who got into the Matrix Online beta, he played for about an hour, and it was so horrible he never touched it again.

well lets be honest if your complainin about a ***** series of something why not add the movies to that pile....

the first one was ok....right up to the point where he flew then it just became pointless and stupid.the second and third were appaulling.....we waited in 'anticipation' for the same things to be repeated throughout....the bullet time was great in the first one but it was old news in the folowing two....shouldve been left at the one movie....and not have him flying.

as for the games....i personally cant comment on the other two but enter the matrix was a very good game i thought.you dont play as neo which was a good start as the game filled in a little more of the underground teams that ghost and naobi were apart of....theres an awesome cut scene when playing as naobi where Jada Pinkett Smith and Monica Belucci make out...and i aint talking voice over computer sprites im talking the actors actually do it.

and the soundtrack was ace....running round in bullet time much like the scene in the first where they wipeout the bottom floor of the agents building....it was brilliant....great music, cool weapons, amazing special effects to toy with...all in all a good game...and if you wanted to just stay in one room there was parts of the game where the guards never stopped coming so you could fight to your hearts content......

the game was good....the sequel films were not.....

I actually liked Enter the Matrix

Yea, i actually thought it was pretty fun.

But the reason the Matrix movie games were poor was pretty much why EVERY other movie to game tie in is poor. Money and or time. These dev's spend soo much money just to get the rights that they dont have enough left over to put into the actual game or it can be that they have a deadline to meet, ie the movies release. As for games like The Path of Neo or the Matrix Online its more the first one than the 2nd.

There needs to be a good Matrix movie to have a good matrix game...besides the first.

The Matrix movies were inspired, in part, by several video game cliches, and so a true-to-the-movies game ends up being like 1000 others.

Now that I think of it, there was a good Matrix game...it was called Max Payne...

ha ha yeah and it even took the name bullet time and TM'd it....clever buggers lol

I never thought the Matrix movies were all that good. They had amazing fight scenes and special effects and thats what pretty much made the franchise the hit that it was

PON was a really good game IMO. the ending was much better then the movies

Path of Neo was good, It's dated now, but it was really fun. I'm waiting for it to be added to the 360 BC list so I can pick it up again.

yeah, enter the matrix was alright as long as the codes were on in my opinion, and i actually really liked path of neo. :o
but matrix online just looks gaytarded.

PON kicked ass. The ending sucked though. It was a pretty good game but it needed more time to be developed. it also needed to be free roam, so we can freaking fly!!! I really think we got screwed when it came to that element of the game.

Hmmm...

Movies - Great on several levels, except, y'know the basic level of being TRUE TO THE PREMISE... the film started out as a quest to free the enslaved humans, and then it turned horribly, horribly pear shaped.

Enter the Matrix - LOVED IT. Played through as Niobe twice, and i think more games should do this, use side characters to chart out a whole epic side thing. The fighting was cool, the bullet time/focus was well balanced and you could switch between guns and ample fighting moves very easily. There were intense moments and varied sets, great cut scenes and while the level design needed a LOT of help and the game lacked a teency bit of polish, it was a solid outing all around. I wouldn't nominate it for any awards, but it lacked any fun-killing attributes, for me.

Honestly ETM was brilliant simply because it tied continuity so tightly with Animatrix and the movies. I thought it was glorious just for that.

Path of Neo - Well, you're not "the One" that's for sure. And while it strove for lofty goals, and did a good job of following and expanding the storyline, and the flight-like jump was fun enough. I don't think the combat stepped it up much, if at all from ETM, and I think there was plenty of room for growth there, especially since we're talking about Neo. And the choosing levels from the air would have been done MUCH Better with a simple free roam environment... that could have been AWESOME. Oh well.

Never played Matrix Online, but it's certainly not fair to judge an MMO from Beta. I hear some people elsewhere are still playing it, and its improved and has a nice ongoing storyline where Morpheus died. Interesting, I guess...

But seriously... who cares? The action of the game can't match the coolness of the movies, nearly does running around with 1000 'freeminds' capture the desperation of the resistance situation. Matrix was NOT right for an MMO.

PON was a really good game IMO. the ending was much better then the movies

So you're saying you'd rather have had Neo fight a giant Agent Smith in the movies than have an ending where the prophecy is fullfilled, sacrifices are made, and there's actually some emotional impact?

I had a friend who got into the Matrix Online beta, he played for about an hour, and it was so horrible he never touched it again.

The WoW beta was terrible too.

MxO is actually a pretty solid game once you get a character past 'lvl 5' or so.

the awesome suck power of the movies destory anything with its name on it the instant it is made

yes yes, "I'm a person who thinks the matrix sucked because I'm too proud to admit I dont understand all that philosophy crap they put in them! me want fighting!" get the f**k out of this thread you stupid f**king trolls before I report you for being stupid trolls.

Well, technically they are answering the question being put forth by the thread. I agree with them on the sequels, the first one was good. But it just got to a point after the first movie where every question was answered with another ****ing question. It just got ridiculous.
