Also, what the hell happened to the support forum? I was going to ask that in there, and it's gone

One scenario springs to mind for the reason why we can't close our own threads:

Imagine you've got some lil guy who opens a thread. Now this thread has potential for some good discussion but the lil guy has lost his mind and is attacking the subject with the thought process of a sh**house rat. Like I say, some good discussion can come from this thread but it isn't going the way the lil guy wanted because everyone disagrees with him. So he closes it. It's his thread and he'll cry/close it if he wants to.

The tech boards are still there, just further up. ;)

I asked this in the feedback support threads, they couldn't isolate the buttons, it's the same problem with editing our thread titles

we'd have too much mod control.

and tech support has been expanded to tech talk so i suppose you could still ask questions in there.

But...But Something Awful let's you do both of those things (edit the title and close your own thread) and they run on the same type of board as us. So the real answer is the people who run this place are either incompetent or on a huge power trip? Or more likely, both? Yeah...Not surprising.

It doesn't matter, if the person who opens the thread asks a mod the close it doesn't the mod kinda have to close it as per the request.

I don't think so. In some circumstances I think that could happen, like with Appletoe and his idiot thread... but that's because it was about him. A subject about his personal life that he wanted to discuss and then over time didn't want to. Other than that kinda situation, I don't think it's relevant what the thread starter wants - it's not like they own the place. It isn't THEIR thread, they just created the discussion.

Because of so many double posts I see here, I'd personally like to see the option to delete our own posts if we wish.

Yet another difference in the CS! rule. For sister sites that have a few different rules.

I asked about this as well, it makes it possible for people to hid evidence based on infractions and all that kinda stuff.

I did also suggest whether they increase the amount of time between posts to physically stop double posts occurring, or make it impossible to post after yourself in a thread. I didn't get an answer on either

:o

That could be a good idea.

I would just like to be able to move a thread if I realize that it should've gone somewhere else.

Well don't get me wrong, that was only my understanding of the situation. That doesn't mean it's true.
