For the murders of Harvey Dent? They could've said it was the Joker. That seemed a little bit forced, don't you agree?!

Batman took the blame to not tarnish Harvey's public persona.

He also took the blame because Batman needs to not be a hero.

No, he took the blame so the whole "He is the Dark KNight" speech could happen. They could've said "THE JOKER DID IT" and Harvey's reputation would be still intact

The Joker was in custody when Harvey died.

It wasn't just the murders but kidnapping Gordon's family........plus some of the cops are still crooked, so if they would have figured out Harvey was behind the murders and the kidnapping then the mob and the whole city would find out. Batman had to take the blame because not only does make people think Batman will kill, but no one would really question it since they want a reason to hate him anyways.

Because it would keep the people strong. Help them continue to be the strong selves they had become because, because if Harvy can have been hurt and kept his morals so can everyone else. He would single handedly save the people and give them hope. Oh and like Truer said before "The Dark Knight" speech would not have been so epic without him haveing a "dark side" or something of that nature I am speculating as we all are because only Nolan has the answers to be 100% truthful.

That's it.

Batman took the blame on purpose because he learned from several people throughout the movie, that they fear him but not that much because he refuses to kill anyone. If the public thinks Batman murdered 4 or so people, then all bets are off.

Batman found a way to get the full fear he needs to do his job, without breaking his rule.

Becaue Joker was pretty much throughly beaten at that point. As he mentioned, Dent was truely his "ace in the hole." There was literally no one else that would work as a patsy that wouldn't work. Besides, like others mentioned, people were looking for a reason to hate Batman--putting him with the murder of crooked cops will certainly do that.

It's easy, batman no matter what is going to be saving people despite his personality, not to mention, this will stop people like brian douglass in becoming a "fake" batman, if they hate him.

He STILL will be able to save people in his role, and get away. Harvey isn't able to run from the people like batman can.

No, because that's nothing specific. A guy who doesn't know the movie would not know what's that supposed to mean.

I told you so

Dent was the symbol of hope Batman could never be. He's the hero with a face, whereas Batman isn't the "hero", he's the outcast, The Dark Knight. He took the blame so that the White Knight image that the people needed could be preserved. It was paralelled in Alfred burning Rachael's letter to preserve Bruce's hope. Why didn't he blame The Joker? Does that seem heroic to you? What he did was an act of self-sacrifice. Blaming The Joker would just be pathetic.

For one he did it so Joker wouldnt flat out win

Second Harvey was the hero that Gotham needed a guy brave enough to stand up against the mob and so on with out a mask to hide behind.

So if at the end of the movie Harvey would of died a villain, then every one would see exactly what Joker was talking about no one is good and the city will fall down the crap hole the way it was before Bat's showed up. So Batman just took the blaim so Harvey would of died a Hero and there would still be that ray of light in Gotham.

So did Harvey die at the end or what? Thismight sound stupid, but I honestly don't know. Was he unconscious or dead??

Supposedly Harvey is dead, although you never see the body in the casket or a burial scene

Most people are saying dead. I'm still hoping that he's alive.
I don't think there is a definite answer yet though.

Well if Harvey IS dead, then doesn't that bother anyone else? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love everything Chris Nolan has done in his two Batman movies, but if he killed off one of the major villains, then that was a huge mistake. I was very happy that the Joker lived this time out, but why would Nolan kill Two-Face??

I'm not saying I agree with it, if he is gone, but that's not in my control
