recently (before winterbreak) my Gov't class had a class conversation on why most adults and older teenagers still watch cartoons (i have to idea as to how this convo came about but meh, it ate up time till class ended), is it because we're trying to hold onto our childhood or is it because of some kind of psychological factor or something?, personally i'm just use to watching them.

I find that some of the cartoons have better storylines and action than any "adult" drama.

I've always been an admirer of animation, and a lot of cartoons in the last decade have become more involving when it comes to the writing and characters. I don't necessarily want to say they're more sophisticated than cartoons of the past, because I look back on some of those cartoons and they're smarter than we give them credit for. But today's cartoons definitely have stepped it up in terms of the content that's handled and the stories being told.

Often some animated programs have better storylines, character development and aall around better quality than a lot. Like regular t.v. is all relaity and junk. I dont watch a lot in general, but I do buy lots of older toons on DVD (Batman: TAS, X-Men: Evolution, Garfield and Friends etc.) But right now all I really watch is TMNT. Family Guy, and occasionally I'll catch an episode of Justice League. I am just usually out when it first airs.

    1.)I don't like reality TV

2.)Crime dramas and those ****ty teeny bopper shows are terrible and/or boring(O.C., pretty much any show on the WB)

What's left? Televangelists and cartoons. I'll take the cartoons.

Several reasons for me; child in the house, love of animation, reminder of my youth, etc.,....

But to be completely honest, i think i still watch because it's such a great stress reliever after a 50 or 60 hour work week.

Very true. Same goes for many animated comedies versus live-action comedies, nowadays. (My opinion, of course) :)

I watch them not only for those reasons, but because I've always liked the brightness and positive vibe that comes from most cartoons, AND I appreciate voice-over acting immensely, I myself being an aspiring one.:D

Nope - I too am 19 and enjoy those very same shows - especially Fairly Oddparents - such a well-done show, in my humble opinion. I love wacky humor, and those shows among a few others give me my fill of such enjoyment. Plus, I personally get sick of dirty jokes and cussing words quickly (I don't find such things funny like many others do), and I know that, for now, I don't have to worry about experiencing that stuff in those cartoons and such similar programming. And, to me, that's always a pleasant and welcome haven from the negativity and vulgarity that exists so prevalently in the world around us.:)

I'm sure many of you are wondering "Why on Earth is he a member of THIS forum, then?"

Well, you're just lucky that I love superhero stuff. :p

Btw Fairly Oddparents rule. A show like that in my time wouldn't have that type of inventive humor, probably because the cartoon writers back in my time thought kids were idiots

Alot of adults my age watch cartoons, because our generation was cartoon's Golden Age. (late 70's-80's!) cartoons became addicitve. Cartoons today arent as campy and cheap like the Hanna Barbera monopoly mafia cartoons of yesterday, and they don't insult yoour intelligence.

I guess watching cartoons takes me back to better times, but I only watch the toons I grew up with in the 80's, none of the Spongebob and Pokemon crap.

Various reasons. I watch Power Rangers and most of the Disney Channel shows for the "so bad it's good" factor. However, I watch Avatar: The Last Airbender because the show genuinly rocks.
