Superman Returns Why Don't Some Superman Fans Like Superman Returns?

Not a copy, a sequel, with his own preferences. It's like a comicbook. Same character, same events but things seen differently, like Batman Forever was after Returns.
And, excuse me but if people "wanted" to see a completely brand new start, well they got it wrong from the beginning. And, for sure it can altered the vision of a movie.

because you called his opinion bulls**t, and than in itself is insulting.

I may not agree with your opinion on the movie, AVEITWITHJAMON, but I will never tell you your opinion is bulls**t, because it's not.

Again, i didnt call his opinion ********, if he doesnt like SR thats fine, i couldnt care less, i called his theory of most SR fans being Singer fans rather than Superman fans ********. It was his theory i had a problem with, not his opinion, especially when he constantly calls other for doing the EXACT same thing he does himself.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with defending your opinion... but you can defend your own opinion without insulting his opinion.

I'm done talking about this... lets move on, shall we, AVEITWITHJAMON?

I know you like it, and I respect that, but there were just too many things in my eyes that Singer did not get right when he made this movie... yes, he made it with good intentions, but even that can't save this movie from how bad it was, IMO

I dont feel i insulted his opinion, just called him out a theory he had, nothing to do with his opinion. And i know your thoughts on SR SuperKal, and i know they will never change, so i dont discuss it with you, as we both know were both us stand.

At least we agree Transformers was good though :cwink:

Don't want to start on old debate, but I would could it bullcrap too. I find as insulting as ... let say ... saying SR fans are Singer fans and not Superman fans.
People these days ..... I can't understand this hate of SR.

I cant understand the hate or the bullcrap theories people come up with for people liking SR, just because they cant comprehend that people liked it. Not all of the people who disliked SR do it, but plenty do, as do plenty of likers, and its all ******** IMO no matter what side it comes from.

As for SR, i still think its an amazing movie, and i think MOS could be even better.

It s possible but for that they have to stop doing superman vs lex in every Superman movies. I like lex but it s time to move on!

Superman 1 - Lex
Superman 2 - Zod and gang
Superman 3 - Big Computer
Superman 4 - Lex/Nulcearman
SR - Lex but only kind of

So it's not like we had Lex overload

You forgot Lex on Superman II. That only leaves Superman III Lex-free. But then again, Mr. Ross was there only because Hackman didn't want to reprise the role.

I think it would be good to see some other villains. Other superheroes have had the chance to battle some of their broader range of villains in recent movies, it would be nice to see Superman go up against someone other than LL. There's plenty to choose from.

I guess Superman 2 had a bit of Lex

Let say there was only 4 Superman the third one was something else...

like Doomsday

SR should have been a Lex & Brainiac film.

Would have been much better

As long as there s new trouble in town. I m in. BTW My best superman was number 2 and it was not because of Lex but more about Zog. But keep Bryan singer and Routh and just put a new villain(s) and Superman franchise will be up and running again!

lol Zog

Zod was great fun and made S2 very very good. Yes a new villian will do wonders for the sequel.

Nope. Wrong again!

Warner Brothers in promotions hired Singer because they thought he would do to Superman what he did with X-Men. They wanted a darker and realistic Superman, upgraded to todays youth and comic book tastes. There reasoning was Bale did it, so Singer could do it based on X-Men and The Usual Suspects. They wanted (and fans) wanted a Superman done in a Batman Begins way.

Unfortunately Singer gave them a digital film version of a 70's movie. Hint: Todays audiences do not give two craps about the 70's unless it is in parody form.

Ask the same executives again and well, that is why all the arguments are going back and forth.

Yep this has again turned into a thread hijacked by the defenders of the film. You guys got 10 million threads you yourselves made to ra ra the film. Go there. Happens every time. They can't can't have an anti SR thread out there without hijacking it.

Agree. I think we should get the Lex/Brainiac teamup from Alan Moore's "Whatever happend to the Man of Tomorrow?". They should borrow some of that idea. :)

That would be quite cool. But how about ditching Lex altoether, and going for one of the more obscure villains? For example, someone like Conduit? I think the idea of someone working out Supes's identity would be something that could be explored really well on screen, especially if there's a kid involved.

Again, it's wrong from the beginning to be expecting something from a movie, it twists the vision of the film. Even more if you follow it closely with spoilers. If they were expecting something, sure, they were deceived. Fans demanding amore realistic superman ? while most of them ask for a more bright suit ? a real blue with a real red ? Fans asking for a darker Superman ? They can't even like this one. And IMO he was dark enough. everyone knows that Singer is a fan of Donner's. Yet WB would have take him in persistently believing he's going to do a re-start ?
Personnally, I didn't find that his film was a "digital film version of a 70's movie". I think it's a sequel. With differences, just like a comicbook.
A re-start is so easy to make. I think the difficulty is to create on smthg already existing. I find that SR has done his job, now it is time for B.Singer to move on and give his own ideas.

I grew up watching superman cartoons old & new, bought many superman toys and was known as a superman fan by friends and family. Plus I've watched the old Donner movies so too many times and my knowledge on superman comics is decent too. So i consider myself a Superman fan.

I didn't like Superman returns for several reasons.

1. I thought the movie was too long
2. I thought the scenes with Lex luthor staring at crystals was boring
3. I thought using Lex as the main villian was boring
4. I thought having Superman just lift and push things was boring
5. I thought having Superman/Clark not engage with Lex luthor in conversaion was a chance missed
6. I hated the illlogical scenes with Green-K and Superman, he should of not been able to fly into the air and perform those feats of power WITH Green K in his body
7. I thought the pace of the movie was too slow
8. I thought Superman lifting that big island was boring, much like the games final climax with the twister
9. I thought the scenes with Superman flying had too much CGI
10. Finally i thought there was too much scenes that were like Superman 1 but twisted (coming from space to earth, first rescue saving lois from a aeroplane, lex having stupid henchmen, lex using a land grab plan, Green-K, etc... so boring and unoriginal)

I love Superman, i just dislike this movie.

Err....I prefer someone else than Conduit. He just flat out suck. No wonder they kill him off like 8 months after Dan Jurgens created him. He barely even last a year in the comics. :hehe:

I still think there should go with someone who is smart & cunning like Luthor to team up with Brainiac like in the story I previously suggested. Maybe Ultra-Humanite?? It doesn't have to be the white gorilla one. They can go with the original one Siegel & Shuster created.

Honestly, can you even read? I said nothing of the sort in that post, NO ONE's opinion is irrelevant, whether you disagree with it or not.

Honestly, do you know what an opinion is? I honestly don't know why you're in this thread. You loved the movie apparently, but this thread is called Why don't some Superman fans like Superman Returns? This applies to anyone who liked the movie.

You were the one who stated SR being a bad movie is a fact when it so clearly isnt, again, read the post properly my friend. And who did i insult exactly, did i actually call anyone a name? Again read the post properly.

You know who you insulted. It's been pointed out already. You're also putting words in my mouth. I never said it was a fact.Try reading it again. It seems you're the one who lacks reading comprehension skills. Point to me where I stated it as a fact. I know you can't, so this discussion is over.

Come on, guys. Let drop this arguments & all that please. Let just have someone point out why they don't like it & move on.
