Why is Hype so slow?

Wow. Thought I was the only one with this problem. :O

It's kind of like when you have a cold you know? When you're healthy you love it, then you have a stuffy nose and you're miserble and remember how lucky you were days before.

I'm glad it's fast today.

Hype forum is fast again. Let's hope it will last a little longer this time around.

traffic has a lot to do with it i'd imagine

Fat Tonie, you have an avatar and a sig, are you willing to start by removing yours? Let's see if that helps a while. If you delete threads that are 3+years old, people lose post counts, of which many will not be happy about. we did a purge a couple years back and it really didn't make that much of a difference.

i don't work on the back end of the site, but i'd imagine it's a server/bandwidth issue. To buy more bandwidth costs money, which would probably mean even more ads then there are already, and some are really a nuisance. some are causing my antivirus to perk up and say this site is a threat sometimes.

They're trying to come up with solutions and figure out things they can do to help with the lag so all we can do is be patient. The issue isn't being ignored by any means.

It's the damn art threads. Someone puts up a humongous picture and someone hits quoate. The Quote includes the humongous picture. if humongous pictures can't be blocked because of popularity, fixing the quote program so it does NOT let image links be repeated should be done.

Iron Man 2 is about to open... thats whats happening

Yeah. If something was actually done..... Mirko would be posting in this thread and crowning himself King **** of **** Mountain. "What now *****es? Fixed that mother ****ing lag. Now SHUTS the HELLS up before I cuts you."

Well if he did post something to that extent, we all would shut the hells up. :o

We all definitely would. As no one would be anywhere near their keyboards, having already fallen to the ground in a fit of laughter so powerful that they crap themselves.

Then refreshing the hype page to see "You've been banned, thank Gilpesh for that :/".

And then I would leap again.... hopefully it would be the leap home.

Somebody somewhere did something. Maybe it's due to some form of Chaos Theory/Butterfly Effect and because Toonth decided to take a shower today the hype is moving faster. I dunno, I'm not some gee-dee'd computer nerd, okay? Or does lag actually just clear up like that by itself? Like I said, I don't know. Just thought I would thank the powers that be for whatever kind of hoojoo was worked. :o

Thanks for the miracle :D The site seems to be performing a lot faster now

My earlier post was repeating what was said the last time mods were given credit for the lag stoppage, straight from the horse's mouth:

We haven't done anything, the problem has not been fixed yet.

I'm betting that's the case here.

maybe one or more of the ads was slowing things down....ads are getting more and more intricate these days
