Why must all the villains be out to destroy gotham?

true, but its for that reason i thought he didn't really fit with scarecrow or the gotham mob...

i wouldn't have minded if they'd kept him as a part of Bruce's training and then brought him back in a later film (in which case they could suggest he's been orchestrating all of the villains all along or something). Ra's is definately a large-scale thinker, and deserves to deliver a large-scale threat, i just thought it didn't fit with the sort of small-scale I'd expect from Batman's first few months.
