Why not focus on Old Man Bruce for a reboot?

I feel like everyone's going with the more obvious idea of starting the Batman film franchise over again after Nolan's films are done. I don't think we need another origin story or even another film in the vein of the Burton or Schumacher films. I think what someone should do is focus on an aged Batman.

That's something we haven't seen yet on film. We've seen Batman's early days and some with him in the middle of his career, but what about an old Bruce Wayne, not exactly like "The Dark Knight Returns" but something like it. It could definitely work if done right. You wouldn't have to go through another origin story or anything cause I feel like going that route would just be a waste of time.

I'd love to see Clint Eastwood as Bruce Wayne :woot:

I can easily understand you saw Gran Torino

Agreed. I want a veteran Batman in his 40s.

I'd like to see a Batman Beyond film. Like a futuristic noir, similar to Blade Runner.

Well, I think any sort of "Grumpy Old Batman" movie, be it TDKR or Beyond, would definitely be something different for the film portion of the Batman franchise, and in the right hands it might even be fun and/or bad@$$ in its own way (as opposed to embarrassing - just the mention of an old Batman could as easily be late-night comedy fodder as the concept of a sixty-something Harrison Ford still playing Indy).

In fact, the ONLY real problem I can foresee with the whole concept of it is in the question that WB would be likely to pose its merchandising and licensing people - which is, basically, how many action figures of Senior Citizen Batman they're likely to sell. For this reason, it's easier for me to imagine WB going more in the direction of Beyond, where they could just put some new kid in the Batsuit to resolve that problem. Plus they've done the Tank Batmobile in live action already, in a way, so it's just as well they'd go for the Flying Batmobile this time out, since it would also be more conducive to putting in some of that lovely CGI that the studios crave.

Bring on Beyond

I agree. It makes sense to do a Batman Beyond movie, IMO.

They were going to do that in the first place, then scrapped the idea and decided to do Bruce's origins in Batman Begins. After the trilogy wraps up, I'd like to see old Bruce one way or the other on film. :woot:

Because it would be stupid and semi selling out before he even got his true justice on film.

I would love to see a Beyond film one day just not too soon.

I'd like to see The Dark Knight Returns and it's sequel should be Batman Beyond.

I don't really want to see an old Batman (outside of an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, and Old Bruce Wayne in Batman Beyond).

However, I would love to see an older, seasoned Batman in his forties.

I think Eastwood may be too old even for an older Batman. Maybe Bruce Willis?

Bruce isn't right for Batman. He's a badass actor but not Batman. I'd loved to see Eastwood as Bruce in a Batman beyond film.

How can you seriously want Eastwood to play old Bruce Wayne? Geez, he will be the father of old Bruce Wayne.
If they did a Batman Beyond right after that Clooney version, then yes. But that's 14 years ago now. Another choice then would have been Adam West, just for the sake of it. But both these men are way too old now.

Eastwood isn't too old. For any action scenes involving old Bruce they can do what they did with Christopher Lee in the Star Wars prequels.

And in Beyond, I thought the creators said that he is around 80 years old for the series.

If they did a Batman Beyond, Eastwood would be perfect for Bruce Wayne. I mean, all he would be doing is sitting in the Bat Cave with Ace the Bat Hound and giving Terry intel and grizzled Eastwood style anecdotes and dressing downs. Maybe an action scene showing he's still got it, like a Bat Cave break in or something.

Would be awesome.

Is an older Batman really the way to go next time? I think it will better to wait. I have the feeling if they portray Bruce Wayne as old, they can't go back to his younger days.

Well a reboot has been confirmed anyway, I just think this route is a bad way to go.

Honestly everyone jumps to extremes. Either an origin or the end of the journey. Batman has been around for all these decades and hasn't needed to become and old man. The punch of an old Superhero is when we have spent so much time with this strong man. We have yet to spend that much time with Bruce. We got an origin and some adventures. We haven't seen Bruce act like a father to the robins. We haven't seen Bruce meet his greatest mistakes. Hell we haven't even seen Batman near death yet. Theres so much we haven't seen on screen that makes the idea that we have seen enough to jump to old age inaccurate.

I completely agree!
