Daredevil tried to be The Crow a bit too much. When I first saw DD all the similarities hit me in the face. And it didn't shock me at all when I found out The Crow was MSJ's favorite comic movie.
He pretty much tried to incorporate the whole style of The Crow into his movie (and didn't even do it half as good)....even went out and got the same music composer (Graeme Revell).
Never mind the roof hopping and the lighting of DD's symbol in fire, and the bar scene where DD takes out the thugs (which was obviously lifted from The Crow where Eric Draven goes nuts and kills all the thugs at Top Dollar's place). The main aspect where MSJ screwed up where The Crow succeeded was injecting a rock soundtrack throughout the movie. In Daredevil it was handled very clumsy to say the least. Just about every song that was played in that movie felt like it was shoe-horned in there and felt out of place whereas The Crow's soundtrack blended seamlessly (and that's probably because Alex Proyas was a music video director and had an expertise in that area).
