The Dark Knight WhySoSerious.com/Laughtilithurts (First Post Recap)

i'm amused by the swf editors currently... guys, stripping a swf is way beyond the normal capacity of a viral like this one. In fact, where they hell were you guys during the jokerized trailer?? XXOOXOX!! :) :)

Ahhh, so I need to open the Flash file and do some crazy stuff to see it?

I tried saving the file but opening it in a regular Flash player only loaded a green screen. :oldrazz: I just figured there was some XML in it or something.

Thanks!

Yeah yeah...no XML tho...its just all built in non dynamic style....

I appreciate the wiki tho..if thats what youre working on...= )

I wonder why it only shows his mouth...maybe it's a message or something...
maybe 03:02:13:22 translates to cbmx...or maybe nothing

i think the mouth only shows to make it seem like The Joker cut the feed to the camera...as if he tampered with it before it went into static...but thats the filmmaker part of me looking at it.

as far as the timecode goes, putting it in order doesn't seem like the logical way of solving it. when you watch the vid, the black bars keep crossing up toward the top of the screen, like it's been edited. the date on the video even says 6/16. so we know whatever is on it already happened in realtime.
the thing is, many of these games and sites we've had to crack have been in their codes, or their URL lines. we've never had to edit a video before, only decode whatever is in these codes. so the timecode, i think, is our only shot.

i'm just not going to read all the posts to try and get all the clues people have gotten so far...too much to read.

i'm glad people got the quote. i'd be worried if no one on here picked up on it.

laugh until it hurts. is there any viral sites for a gotham hospital?

Curious question. I don't think there are, but there may be something similar. I'll sift through the Wiki with my eyes peeled.

Did anybody look into Barhyte's e-mails?

In the NIN ARG, which, from what i know, was also done by 42E, they had to decript some phantom signal in static or something to come with a new message.

From the eyes of 42E, nothing is too hard in a game like this, because when you think about it, with the multitudes of people doing this game, we have almost unlimited resources.

They had a good article in Wired about ARGs one month.

nah this is fine. Plus I can use the tool previously posted to slow it down etc. seems like a frame-by-frame would confirm the skips and allow any 'ghost' faces previously posted to be seen.

I actually took screen shots of the clip and used gimp to make a scene by scene gif with the pictures I saved. Ill make a slower one for you(and whoever else that is interested) if you want

this could be onto something, considering in the particular picture they use for the joker, you can obviously see his scars on his mouth

i feel like there is something that ties it to the begining, since this was the first picture released of the joker straight on

wait so joker is the real two-facE?

No, no, no, no, no. There is a SECOND hidden face in the static after the Joker. Tilt your head 34 degrees to the right and squint your eyes to about 1/5 closed. Its right there!

That is awesome. Confusing to me... but awesome.
Actually, reading over her description again, I don't think we "solved" anything. If I'm interpreting waiting's explanation correctly, her fiancee ripped apart the Flash file until he found what it was coding for. It obviously had to have directions as to what to do when we clicked on the right things (ie, have the ticket come out and link to the static page).

Namely, I think we cheated. :hehe:

I'm back from dinner. Looks like a couple of people followed up on the alphabet stuff. I'll try my hand at the new one now if someone can explain it better.

First two numbers of each 4 number sequence discarded as a break, and the last two are the corresponding alphabet #?

Sorry if this is stupid, but does this footage line up with any of the footage we got from the acmesecuritysystems.com/delos challenge? The warehouse seems familiar... I see that the footage is an Acme system on the static page...

that should be about right.

Would someone be able to cheat again?:woot:

i was thinking the same thing. like since the picture was the first thing we got from the marketing it might be saying this can be the last part of the viral marketing.

And, I don't think The Joker would mind that one bit...

Longitude and lattitude?

Well, it looks like the middle of nowhere in Africa:

true true, 42 does use non-linear puzzles to a great degree. However, it's Batman. most of the folks aren't like vanishingpointgame, and whittle around with Windows Fista all the time.

now that was a hard ARG.

i'm currently stuck trying just to get the theory of a timecode puzzle.

first, it's a linear sequence. the breaks in the code indicate breaks in the sequence

second, the code looks to only be specifically 4 digits in difference, from 0387 to 1822.

third, there are 21 jumps in the sequence, which should indicate 21 characters after whatever manipulation we do, which could be a 15 word site with bookend www and com on each side.

this is probably nothing, but it might be worth mentioning. take a look at the scrolling black bar. it seems to disappear slightly in the middle of the screen, as if the windows of the warehouse are on another layer of the video and the bar scrolls behind them. does anyone else see what I'm talking about?

not sure how it could be relevant, but it was an observation.
