Wii launch date and price confirmed!!!

So is this the only news from yesterdays conference ? Now that the release date & price is confirmed I wonder when Pre Orders will start here in the U.S.

After class today, I plan on making an emergency trip to GameStop.

I am sold on the Wii!

We dno't even know if it's up for pre order yet but hey can you let us know what Gamestop says about when it does come out for pre ordering ?

wii.ign.com has been doing live updates from the event all day.

- Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a Wii launch title. GameCube version will hit a month later on December 11th. Looks like I'll be waiting to play the version with the classic OoT control system.

- Metroid Prime 3 has been delayed to 2007.

I'm dissapointed in the price of the console, I was hopeing for 200 or less. But with all the goodies it comes with, I can't complain.

Damn, $250 American is gonna mean $300+ for Canadians, I was really hoping/expecting to spend less than that...

I thought the exchange was still around 12%. If it's plus $300Cdn just buy from the states.

Reggie promises between 15-20 launch titles with over 30 titles by the end of the year.

Here are the "confirmed" launch titles with more possibly on the way -

Wii Sports
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
ExciteTruck
Call of Duty 3
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Need for Speed: Carbon
Madden '07
Elebits
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Rayman: Raving Rabbids
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
World Series of Poker
Rapala's Tournament Fishing

Since he says we won't be getting over 20 titles, that likely means that IGN's release date list, which claims 25 titles at launch AND doesn't even include some of these games, is incorrect.

Says $279.95 but lists the games at $59 while Future Shop has them at $69. Now I just need a job. Says that the Virtual Console Canadian prices will come later.

As disappointed as I am with the price for the console, that's not what's got me ticked off. The Wii is supposed to be a multi-player console with the average consumer in mind. If that is true, how can Nintendo be selling only one Wiimote with the system, then charge $60 total for a Wiimote and Nunchuck?!

I wanna see what cable options are included. I'm really hoping for component cables... I'm not taking it for granted.

Also, the room where I wanna hook up my Wii doesn't get a strong connection from my router... so I'm wondering if the hard wire connection will be out of the box, or will I need added stuff.

Anyone know if the Wii will only save to Flash? I'm still hoping for hard drive support.

I think this was long ago established. I think I even remember a rumor that you could hook it up to any external usb harddrive. So just get a cheapy 80gigger for $75 and it's a wrap.

I can't even remember the last system that can with two controllers, maybe the original Nintendo. At least we're getting a full playable game in Wii Sports.

Last time we had a full playable game (on launch): N8-bit
Last time we had dual controllers (on launch): SNES

I cant believe the Wii is only $50 cheaper than the basic 360. Nintendo.... ****in up.

yeah, a basic 360 no one bought. I can't understand why some people are surpised by this price. $250 sounds right to me and it's a very good price. Some people put the notion of a really cheap system in their heads and now they can't deal with the cheap price of $250. Did people really think the Wii was going to be cheaper than the Gamecube when it launched?

Nevermind the fact that it has everything you'll need to start playing that day out of the box. If it has hard wire connectivitiy cables and component cables included, it's still cheaper than the Gamecube was.

GC released with a cheaper controller... no games... ($50 apiece) no component cables ($35+)... no connectivity ($??)

I see this as still great pricing. Not that cost would really be a big issue to me, but all the same it's nice to see that they remain the most competitive as far as pricing.

VC games could stand to be a little cheaper though... I would've thought they should all be under $7, but whatever. I'll still have my entire Zelda library/entire Mario library/entire Metroid library, and many others on one freaking machine. That can't be topped. :o

More disappointing is the fact that only the white console will be released on launch. Who the hell in the US has a white television anymore unless it's like a 13" kitchen TV:huh:

Yeah, I wish we had the black color option for the Wii. The virtual console prices don't bug me, because I don't plan on using it that much. But your right. This is a very affordable system and people shouldn't complain on what their getting for $250. And the games are $50, rather than $60. My only criticism right now is the price for the nunchuck. $40 for the remote and $20 for the attachment. That's $60 for the nunchuck. I would of liked it to be a bit cheaper, but I'll buy it anyway. There is too much positive from all the news we got.

I can't believe everyone is *****ing about this,

I mean for ****'s sake, it's $250 for the Wii, Wii Sports, the controller and hook-ups, and a stand! Jesus, it's the same price as a PSP and people don't complain very much about that!

But I can understand the dissapointment in only white. But, I have a white DSL, and was buying the white Wii anyways to match!

I can't wait.

Also, isn't Nov. 19 the same day as the PS3 launch, or is that the 17th?

PS3 is the 17th. The Wii is launching on a Sunday, so I don't have to cut my classes now.:yay: And I agree with you, no one should be complaining.

Sweet, it's a Sunday! Awesome!

Also, I'm glad it's coming out later! I'll have enough money now!

Sunday is going to be a great day. I remember when N64 was released on a Sat. My entire weekend was devoted to Mario 64. The Wii is coming out the week of Thanksgiving and I get the week off from college. It's going to be a blast.
